I can't believe that play when Brunnel lost the ball and the ravens scored the TD.

Betts let his man go right by him. Didn't even touch him. Then he just stopped like the play was over. He could have recovered the fumble if he had chased his man. I couldn't believe it.

one thing you can say about Portis, he wouldn't have let that play happen.

That was a terrible play by Betts. His "block" on Ed Reed wasn't even half-hearted and then when the fumble was loose, he didn't exactly set the grass on fire going to the ball.

However, if you say that Portis wouldn't have let that play happen, you are living in a fantasy world. Portis is a lot of things but a good blocker isn't one of them. In fact, he's a really mediocre blocker!

I think what he is saying is that Portis wouldnt have just given up on the play, which he wouldnt. He isnt a great blocker, but he gives a ton of effort. Betts just halfassed the half of an ass he brought with him.

SC, gotta totally disagree with you on this one. Portis is the best running back in pass protection ive seen in a Skins uniform in a loooong time. JoeCrisp also mentioned how good he is in protection. have you seen his blocks in the backfield and downfield? he gives it his all, totally not like Betts' give-up.

I think there will be some changes in the offense with Sultan McCollugh being activated to see if the offense can move with another style of back. Portis said he can see the hole however he's thinking too much and that he is being over coached by Earnest Byner. Look Clinton, just sit on the sidelines and share time with McCollough for now.

Two things

From the WP : "And as the lefty quarterback slung his arm forward to throw, Reed batted the ball to the ground."

Isn't that an incomplete pass if his arm was comming forwards. I didn't see the game but sounds iffy.

Secondly McCullough couldn't get things done against third stringers in the preseason , and rember his attitude when he was cut before being resigned. it is Gibbs who needs to look at things and figure out why things are not working because this i becoming sickening. Still we are looking good for number 1/2 overall pick.

in a nod to ESPN 2k5's commentators, i thinked Ladell even packed a lunch for Reed and handed it to him on his way to the quarterback

bedlam, Brunell's arm definitely wasn't going in a forward motion. It was a fumble

that's why they challenged it... i knew this challenge wasn't going to work out, but i didn't feel bad about it, cause it was an important play with an outside chance to be overturned... he didn't get enough forward passing motion for it to be incomplete though...

and i got no idea where sunra is coming from at all, i dunno, but i completely disagree and don't see the fascination with a crappy RB that couldn't even light up 3rd stringers... 31 other teams refuse to sign him, so obviously everyone else is missing out on his talent... or he just isn't that great.

if you want to bench or rotate WRs, change QBs, hell... even try the rookies on the Oline (generally a bad idea), i could see that... but no one is nearly as good at RB as portis... (though maybe sean taylor should take a couple snaps )... you seem to think that portis should be as productive as priest with a Oline thats 100x worse... thats unreasonable... holmes would die behind our line too. portis doesn't have #77 taking out 2-4 guys every single down... that hurts his production... watch tape of the oline, they stunk for the most part (gave up on some plays, didn't do what was needed, etc)

anyways, if 20 other people on this board can't convince you to rethink that position, i'm not going to spend any more time trying, we'll just have to disagree.

It was a fumble. Betts is a sucka and McCoullough will not and could not replace Portis.
