Jason Campbell Wants Thomas To Step It Up

Redskins Insider - Redskins Waiting on Thomas

"It's not a play here, a play there. Every play is important. You've got to be where you're supposed to be every time. If you want people to depend on you, you've always got to be focused."

Campbell taking charge, very nice.

Re: Jason Campbell Wants Thomas To Step It Up

Yeah I read this earlier, figured it might light a fire under Thomas. Zorn still wont confirm it but Im expecting Kelly to be the #2, and Thomas will see spot duty, and return kicks.

Jason is showing the leadership we need. Good job Jason.

He's also right. The only thing between current DT and DT's being a devastating receiver is DT.

After watching Thomas this pre season and out in Ashburn he doesn't seem to catch the ball naturally like Kelly does. I think Theismann pointed out that Thomas jumps everytime he catches the ball instead of just catching w/ his hands.

Maturity, or lack thereof seems to be the buzz word surrounding Thomas. Listening to him talk sometimes it would apear he does have some growing up to do. It might serve him well to concentrate less on those video games, and more on his assignments.

So what your saying is ....Rock is expendable.

So Mason still has a chance. LOL.

Kelly has really soft hands. I think he's going to be a nice contributor on the underneath stuff.

Yes, but he does catch it. Apparently, he still has a lot of work to do to become more productive but when he is thrown the ball he catches it. That puts him way ahead of some of the starting WR's we've had here in the past.

Re: Jason Campbell Wants Thomas To Step It Up

Was Thomas really that different on the field this pre-season? It's funny because both Kelly's and Thomas numbers look ridiculously similar in fact just for fun lets play the guessing game.

Player A:
7 Catches 69 yards 9.9 Average with a Long of 21

Player B:
7 Catches 67 yards 9.6 Average with a Long of 16

I guess though that Kelly made tougher catches based on what I've heard. Still no one beats my boy Marko Mitchell.

The Redskins want Jason to step it up. Before Jason calls anyone out he needs to check himself first. He needs to work on his accuracy first and foremost.

Partly agreed, though JC's been slinging the ball around fairly well. There isnt a throw that the guy cant make, the one to ARE was on the money. Hopefully they both step up, and we can all be happy.

Re: Jason Campbell Wants Thomas To Step It Up

I just do not like Devin Thomas, the person/player at this point...

I have heard WAY too much about his personality faults/over-inflated ego and lack of focus & work ethic.

Marko Mitchell is next to pass DT on the WR list... so what happens when DT is the #5 receiver? Could hear a "story" coming from him this season if so...

This is why I wanted Jordy Nelson. He's a hard worker and he outproduced Thomas in his senior year of college by about 400 yards. Then he went on to gain over 300 yards last year through the air. Hell he even outproduced him this preseason on one play. In retrospect it would have been nice to pair him off with Kelly and Mitchell. Then all of our young receivers would be tall guys that can step up and make plays.

Re: Jason Campbell Wants Thomas To Step It Up

I'm a DT supporter I want all our WR's to do great what i remember is JC saying MK & MM are always staying after practice catching balls from the machine and i never heard DT's name being mentioned. DT needs to step it up it's a privilege to play in the NFL.
