Re: PETA Warns off Vick Suitors

Not again. Wasn't he spotted in Chicago speaking aginst cruelty to animals. Can't this crap just end already? So what, PETA doesn't like Vick. What are they going to do to the team that does sign him? Honestly.

You better not sign him or else!

Or else what?

GTFOH!

Re: PETA Warns off Vick Suitors

I went to VCU, and its a very liberal school in a pretty liberal city with a lot of art students, hipsters, emos, scenesters, vegetarians, vegans, and such. There also happens to be a fair amount of PETA members down here. A few years ago while i was still in school they had demonstration where they compared the domestication of animals to the enslavement of African Americans. They made huge signs comparing African Americans and animals like dogs and cats in similar situations (locked up in crates or pens), as wells as animals being hit and slaves being whipped. It was pretty bad. I think a lot of people don’t realize just how extreme and hurtful PETA is. It’s a shame some normal animal lovers think they have the same interest in mind.

Note this is from the PETA website and it sounds better than it actually was.

F-PETA.

Best line of the article (outside of the scenery): [If you really are serious about animal welfare, try the Humane Society or the ASPCA instead.]

Ingrid Newkirk and her cronies have little room to talk about Vick's exploits. She has been responsible for far more unnecessary animal deaths than Vick. Just check out some of NEwkirk's own statements about her "work" in local shelters and the euthanasia rate of PETA vs. VB/Norfolk SPCA & City shelters.

Re: PETA Warns off Vick Suitors

I am not a fan of Vick but the man did pay his debt to socity. Same goes for the 6 game suspension, he was out of football for 2 years, so slap him with a 6 game suspension, again he paid his debt, let this end...

I went straight to the scenery. Didn't bother much with the article. I've had enough of PETA, Sammy's got it right.

Doesn't PETA go around throwing blood on fur coats? Wonder were they get that from.

Angry and Sammy got it right.

Let it go.

Exactly, PETA represents the lunatic fringe.

Re: PETA Warns off Vick Suitors

Glad you guys liked the scenery [and some even liked the post]. I'm a member of and donor to the ASPCA and the Humane Society. They do lots of good, unglamorous work on behalf of animal welfare and little to none of it involves super-models or Hollywood actresses. I thank PETA for the hot girls in their ads and the Playmate centerfolds they send to Capitol Hill every year to serve un-edible tofu hot dogs, but as far as actual work on behalf of animals, PETA does almost none of it.

Re: PETA Warns off Vick Suitors

My mother works for the VP of the Humane Society. Vick is currently working with the president of NHS and has done good work. His goals are to work with inner city kids as stated on NFL network among other media outlets. The National Humane Society is a big proponent for forgiveness and from what I hear from inside the orgnization MV has been forgiven by the org and they want him to succeed. Anyway just a point of reference for the good in animal lovers, the wack jobs at PETA have issues and they really need to get over themselves. They do some very odd things that don't benefit the animals they are trying to protect. Anyway I hope MV gets a job and puts this stuff behind him, becoming an adovacte for anti dog fighting propoganda.

Red paint to mimic blood. You must yell, "Fur is murder!" while throwing the paint.

I am a small-scale animal rights activist. I've given public talks and published minor works on the issue. But the PETA folks typically are so over the top that I tend to avoid them.
