ESPN 2009 Power Rankings (Training Camp) - Skins = 20th
NFL Power Rankings - National Football League - ESPN
They have us behind teams like the Seahawks & Texans... ok, underhype is much better than overhype and disappointment, right? haha

I like that, in 4 months when we are like 9-1 they'll be saying i knew they were going to be good, i'm glad they underestimate us.

Save that link, so we can look back at it and laugh..
I'm not too upset about the ranking. Outside of the beltway, no one would say we were a top-10 team yet, but also not a bottom 10 team. So realistically we're a middle-of-the pack team, which ranks us 11->22. Personally I think we should be a 11-15 ranked team since I personally think we're better than the Bears, Cowboys, Dolphins, Texans, Packers, Seahawks and Saints. Since most ppl would agree our Defense is top 5 (if not top 2-3), I think if our offense starts to score points in the preseason, our ranking could jump dramatically. As ppl have said -- who cares, these preseason/pre-training camp rankings are complete guesses and it's better to blindside the competitition. |

Espn is certainly the last place i get my sports info. We get it, we get it: Cowboys, Giants, Colts, Patriots, and Steelers are the only teams in the NFL worth talking about. Did i mention Brett Frarve?

I watch SportsCenter every day & have never heard of him? and who is this "T.O." I heard about today? What ESPN does to my head with Favre/T.O. coverage ------------> :smashfrea But really... preseason rankings mean nothing... but how can they think that a team that was just lacking on offense, with a completely new offensive philosophy, who now has a full season & off-season in it & an IMPROVED top-10 defense makes us finish WORSE than last year?? lol

People love to get worked up about these, but can you honestly say we proved that we deserve any better than 20th? These are based on last year.
I'm not a big fan of how ESPN reported the Big Ben incident, or rather didn't. Not sure what that was about.

Every year we are in the low 20's so it means nothing!! If Seattle has a better record than us this yr we deserve to be 20. Let's see what they say after wk 1 when we "Upset" the Giants in NY.

Re: ESPN 2009 Power Rankings (Training Camp) - Skins = 20th
Well not all rankings are based on last year...
They have the 8-8 Chargers 6th, 6-10 Packers 17th, the 4-12 Seahawks ranked 18th & they even admit IN THE RANKING, that the Vikings are in the top-10 based on the POSSIBILITY of getting Favre... hilarious stuff.

Funny, the last offseason power rankings the Skins were 19, how do you drop without even playing a game? One more reason why these things are retarded.

Re: ESPN 2009 Power Rankings (Training Camp) - Skins = 20th
Let's start by saying that every one of the 12 teams that the ESPN conglomerate has ranked behind us should be ranked behind us, possible exception of Jacksonville depending on whose OL you like better.
The Texans are a prospectively good team, just like the Redskins are. Based on the past history, we should be ranked above them. If you are going to make the argument that, "they should make the playoffs this year", well, then good luck telling the Redskins that they aren't better than Atlanta, Minnesota, or Arizona. Needless to say, the Cowboys are still living off their 2007 season. If you take out the Redskins 2007 season, we haven't made the playoffs since 2005, but you'd still rank the Redskins ahead of the Cowboys based on disappointing by the Cowboys seasons in 2006 and 2008. I don't know if it's necessarily wrong that they are boosting the Cowboys based on having a 13 win season in recent memory, but it's certainly not showing up in the voting for teams like Jacksonville, San Diego, Green Bay and even New England. So lets not act like they're being objective with the Cowboys because based on last season, they wouldn't be a top 20 team.

Preseason power rankings = a waste of time.
