Fred Davis Signs with Rosenhaus

Per Rosenhaus's Twitter page: http://twitter.com/RosenhausSports

For those of you who aren't registered on Twitter:
"We are thrilled to announce that we have signed Redskins tight end Fred Davis as a new client. Fred was a 2nd round pick from USC in 2008."
-15mins ago, Drew Rosenhaus

Next question.

I love how the logo for his company is inside a Super Man-like emblem. To say he has a healthy ego is an understatement.

It means nothing for now. Davis is in no position to demand either a trade or a new contract.

Rosenhaus seems to have a good relationship with the 'skins. No big deal.

Does this in any way indicate the who's-who believe Davis is primed for a breakout sophomore season? The only things I've heard about him since the draft, on the positive side, is that he is a physical freak and blocks surprisingly well.

Until Davis does something on the field this means nothing, but he's doing the right thing when it's time to get a new deal he has the right agent.

Yeah, I agree...I'm just posting it because it's the offseason and for the offseason this is moderately newsworthy.

...it's pretty much just a Skins news blurb.

If Davis does become a stud in 2009, that could benefit us greatly beyond just this year. It would mean either:

a) for years to come we are very deep with quality tight ends, or
b) either Davis or Cooley becomes trade bait to land a very good player

Re: Fred Davis Signs with Rosenhaus

Zorn said on comcast that DAvis worked as hard as anybody all season. He said Davis was in as good or better shape than any player on the team because he took so many snaps w/the scout team during practice.

To use a terrible pun, I think Davis' missing that practice as he overslept last year was a 'wake up call!' From what the coaches have said since then it sounds like he's really trying to make an impression and be a team player. Zorn threw a bone to him last year in that one game when JC overthrew a pass to him & they called that crazy te reverse.

I think if anything this move just indicates that DAvis is really thinking about his future & is acting professional. Of those 3 2nd rounders he's the safest bet to have a long, productive career. Hope it's all in b&g!

I saw an interview with one of the strength and conditioning coaches and he said Davis did one of the most amazing things he's ever seen. The players do sets of pushing the sleds 25 yards. On his LAST set, after just doing his other sets, he told the coach to stand on the sled and he proceeded to push the coach and the sled 25 yards. Most players are worn out by the last set. He actually ADDED weight on his last set. A physical freak is EXACTLY what he is. He's a stud and I think he'll show it on the field this year.

I remember JC saying if Davis studies the play book & puts the work in he would be good. When JC said that it sounded as if Davis was behind in work, based on what you guys are saying seems he's turned it around.

Re: Fred Davis Signs with Rosenhaus

From everything I've heard about Rosenhaus he's more talk and bluster than anything else. When it comes time to negotiate he's good for getting his clients market price and that's about it. And yeah, we should be so lucky as to see the day that Fred's contract is an issue, as that would mean he had actually done something on the field.

Cool story. Unfortunately being a physical specimen doesn't necessarily equate to being a good football player. Hopefully he'll be both.

Re: Fred Davis Signs with Rosenhaus

I would totally sign with Rosenhaus too. He's is cutthroat but fair IMO. If Davis turns out to be any good (no reason to suspect otherwise) he'll get what he deserves from the Skins. My man Cooley is still top dog so there's no need to fuss if he opts to go elsewhere in a few years.

Grew up in the DC Maryland area as a kid, but now reside in the Los Angeles CA area. USC is the big football team here because their is still no NFL team here. Fred Davis is a beast so just give him some playing time and you will see him make plays. We will have 2 monster TE's who can do damage.
