Something Positive
I thought this was an interesting article. It's a Q&A with Chris Meidt. With all the negative talk lately, I found it insightful and uplifting.

Re: Something Positive
Good read, I always like to hear about the guys below the radar... more positives about Davis. He could really add a nice dimension to the offense.

Re: Something Positive
It sounds like everyone is a little more on board with what's going on. Now they're able to install more plays and the coaches realize what Zorn wants. Sounds like JC is really taking control. I expect him to be more comfortable and confident this year and Meidt says the receivers are running routes at the proper depth moreso than last year. Sounds like things are coming together.

Re: Something Positive
Good post and very good article. I really like what I've been hearing from training camp by different outlets.

Re: Something Positive
I'm getting excited for the prospects of our offense, and our team as a whole, next year. I think we'll be better than people think. Although we didn't upgrade the offense much in the offseason, we have those 3 2nd round picks from last year that seem like they're serious about contributing this year. It could be a big addition from within our roster, and with everyone getting more comfortable with the offense in their 2nd year we could really make some strides towards becoming a legitimate threat to score on offense.

Re: Something Positive
Our offense has to be better than last season production.
Reasons 1.Zorn will have 1 season of experince as HC and play caller. 2. He knows JC strenghs and weaknesses in the WC offense. 3.Our players will have a better grasp of the WC offense and can play with thinking so much. 4.JC will be playing to prove he belongs in the NFL as starting QB and contract. 5.The young WR have to get more time on the field this season to make our offense more explosive. 6.Fred Davis was a beast at USC and he will help our passing game to free up Cooley more this season. 7.Our O-line will be slightly better with Dockery and whoever starts at RT. 8.The defense will be much improved in forcing turnovers, and defense will score some touchdowns this year. 9.The defense will give the offense a short field and more opportunities when they force teams to go 3 and out. 10.We play the AFC West and 3 teams have young or a new starting QB.

Re: Something Positive
That was an interesting and informative article. I'm looking forward to reading his interviews with other Redskins coaches, as well.

Re: Something Positive
You know who I want interviewed? Sherman Smith; I don't think that there was a lesser noticed OC in the NFL last year.
I definitely liked this though: When I watch practice, I tend to see you working most closely with the quarterbacks. Can you run through those guys -- Jason Campbell, Todd Collins, Colt Brennan, and even Chase Daniel, who you helped to scout -- one by one and tell me how they've looked based on what you've seen this offseason? Meidt: "I think Jason's doing just an absolutely awesome job. Even through all the other talk, he just came back to work. He worked as hard if not harder through the chaos. He came in and took charge of this football team during minicamp and OTAs. He was in charge at the line of scrimmage, he used multiple cadences, he audibled -- I mean, he did things that he just wasn't ready for at this point last year. "He was on receivers if they ran the wrong route, he was on the O-line when they jumped a couple of times ... he had complete charge of this football team. So we were thrilled about that. "And he threw the ball well. Mechanically, he's getting better every week. He keeps working on that. Last edited by tryfuhl; 05-20-2009 at 11:53 AM. |

Re: Something Positive
I think Zorn really needs to start trusting guys like Davis. He can be a nice role player and open things up for us. I like these types of reads.

Re: Something Positive
I'm really excited about Fred Davis. I can't wait to see this guy on the field this year in 2 TE sets. All I know was when he was at USC he was a monster. It really looks like he's come a long from the alarm clock fiasco....which was over blown by the media.
