Cooley comments on Jason Taylor

This is why Cooley will go down as one of the most popular Redskins ever. The dude is just real, he gets it when obviously so many others in the NFL don't.

I mean, I know Miami is pretty nice, but just go ahead and make that much money while you still can and then retire anywhere you want. Hell, I would go play in Russia for 10,000,000. I would pack my bags and fly out tomorrow, "Ill see ya in February."

I thought the same thing. I know JT probably isn't hard up for money but damn, that's a lot of cabbage to leave on the table.

There has to be more to this story. All I know is it saves alot of money in cap space. Now the question is:how will they use it? D. Evans is the first place to start. Hopefully, they get that done and then look for more depth, O Line,LB, Punter.... the list goes on and on. Looks like we needed cap space more than everyone might think...

Well, Smoot and others realized that money isn't everything. They realize that playing somewhere you are appreciated and comfortable beats money any day of the week.

Of course to me money is not everything either...It's the only thing.

Cooley speaks the truth. Good for him!

I'm glad that JT did not come back this season because I think that his refusal to work out with the team shows that he is emotionally done with playing football. He'll probably sign and play elsewhere next season but his heart won't be in it and, since it isn't, he probably won't play up to the level we were used to seeing from him before last season.

We're better off using that $8.5M to sign people who still have the desire to compete.

For that kind of money I'd play in Russia too. It's good to see that the stars haven't gone to Cooley's head.

taylor obviously didnt want to play here and we obviously didnt want him back. this worked out well for both sides... except for the draft picks we dont have of course.

What about possibly resigning Jason Campbell? Lets say Jason Campbell has an incredible first half of the year - wouldn't it be better for the Skins to use whatever they have left in 2009 CAP space and apply it to resigning their qb? Now if Campbell does bad I think it will probably be the end of his era here - but if he does great I would think it would be in the Skins best interest to use the leftover 2009 cap space on the qb - especially when our future cap years are going to be eaten up by letting go of the massive contracts of older players in dead cap money and release fees. Now of course maybe the Skins are betting on the salary cap going away next year - but if it doesn't I think you got to use it on Jason Campbell if he does well and is your qb of the next 5-10 years.
