Free Agency and Salary Cap
As you all know by now we proabably have already "SIGNED" Haynesworth and have 15 million in Cap room to do so.
So here is the Dream Offseason Scenario. Sign Hall Cut Springs. Create about 2 more million in cap room. Hall costs 4.5 Springs saves 6.5. DONE Probably more of a wash. Sign Haynesworth. 6-7 million in room taken up. Done Probably 8 million eaten up in 2009 Sign Crowell - 2 million taken. Sign Canty: 4 million Taken NOT Happening Sign J Brown 4 million taken. (Dockery 3 Million?) If we do this do we cut Rabach? Cut J Taylor. 8.5 million saved. NOT Happening Restricted Tenders 3 million Leaves us with: MINUS 1 million (plus rule of 51) for rookies Draft best OT available. Instantly we get younger and have a Dominate Dline, not to mention a beast of a center/guard and a young RT. I really think our Skill positions are fine and D. Thomas and F. Davis will Step up BIG this year. Sorry if this is posted in the Wrong spot but I wanted to see what everyone thinks. Last edited by skinsfan242; 02-27-2009 at 11:57 AM. |

Re: Free Agency and Salary Cap
We DEFINITELY haven't signed Haynesworth. The other teams in the running for him (Tenn, Det, Atl, TB) all have a ton more cap room than we do. Not to mention the fact free agency doesn't start until after midnight tonight.

I know we haven't "SIGNED" him, but you know what I mean.

Re: Free Agency and Salary Cap
If you were Haynesworth, why would you limit yourself to a team that won't have much cap this year? Why not go for the team that has 50 mil of cap space that could give him more money upfront than our team would.
And why do I get the feeling that Schneed is going to lose another clump of hair when he sees this thread title. LOL.

Isn't there at least 3 other threads discussing this?

Re: Free Agency and Salary Cap
Too much loot, and someone like Tampa has a TON of cap room and can easily outbid us if they want to.
Plus I'm still on the fence as to whether we are really interested or if the rumor is little more than Danny doing a favor for his agent in helping to generate interest and help max out his asking price. I always thought the Briggs rumors were nothing more than Snyder doing a favor for Drew Rosenhaus. I have nothing concrete to base this on, just my view. |

Re: Free Agency and Salary Cap
Heres the deal, the redskins are helping to push the market up for Hayensworth, we really have no intention of signing him at all. The big signing will be Hall ,and DE/DT Chris Canty..Along with them a Guard(D.Dockery) & a FA OT
PS..Say Bye Bye to J.Taylor... |

Re: Free Agency and Salary Cap
Depends on how many million we're talking. Plus, if his main priority is winning, he might as well re-sign with the Titans.
