Re: FYI for 2009.. Draft & Schedule
I personally think they'd be best off trading back for sure...
you just NEVER know with the 1st round picks.. boom or bust... that's why the more picks the better... If they get a "stud" OT or DT... it'll all be on him (the pressure to be an impact) because we won't pick again til the 3rd round.

Re: FYI for 2009.. Draft & Schedule
I REALLY do think that'd be the best strategy as good O-Linemen are awlays still available in the 3rd/4th rounds

Re: FYI for 2009.. Draft & Schedule
Trade the first one away for a pick in the second and in the 3rd.
Schedule looks pretty good, not thrilled about having to go out west twice but what can ya do?! |

Re: FYI for 2009.. Draft & Schedule
id like to actually keep this pick and use it for a top tier talent. the "experts" seem to think there are 3 stud OTs this year and maybe at 14 one of them might still be around. if not O line maybe a play-making d lineman.
hurts not having that 2nd rounder thoo. either way we should only get better after the draft. so is this draft considered deep in any particular position? seems like there is a good 10-15 solid O lineman this year but i dont follow college ball as much. go skins!! |

Re: FYI for 2009.. Draft & Schedule
I would not trade #14 overall for just a 2nd and a 3rd. I would accept no less than two 2nd rounders in 2009. Philly and New England are notorious for trading out of the first round for a 2nd PLUS a 1st in the following year's draft. Philly did that again last year, giving them two 1st rounders for 2009.

what about that tackle from Virginia? is he expected to be top 10? if not, there is our pick

I thought we ended up with the 13th overall pick.

Re: FYI for 2009.. Draft & Schedule
Trade it along with Betts and Randle El, stock up on picks spend them on both lines and a backup RB...or pick at 14, maybe get a keeper down the line in the draft and take your chances.

That's what I thought I read on RI too.

Re: FYI for 2009.. Draft & Schedule
Randle El isn't terribly productive, has a high cap figure, and will be 30 years old by the time next season starts. If you are a GM for another team, what kind of draft pick would you trade for him? Ladell Betts will also be 30 years old by the time next season starts and good running backs can be found late in the draft. So, I would be stunned if we managed to get anything better than a 5th round pick for either player and we'd be lucky to get that much.

I definitely think The skins should still make that move, put the onus on thomas, kelly, or davis to show up next season. i hope they have the maturity to realize they were complete busts this season and they need to really pick up the pace next season. Definitely, definitely trade the first rounder to get more picks because the Skins do not draft well (Sean taylor is the only one who comes to mind who was a stud - Rogers is still a work in progress) in the first round. Pick up o linemen and d linemen because griffin is getting old, gholston is not a suitable backup, jansen is finished, samuels is showing his age. I think the trench units will be in serious trouble next season if they are not shored up. |
