Who's Cooking Turkey And How

Just thought it would be fun to see how everyone prepares their feast for tomorrow or any family traditions. This year we are breaking traditiion and going to our golf and tennis club for dinner. I'm still slow cooking a smaller turkey on the grill so we will have some as leftovers. We are also smoking a Stripe Bass which we will serve with crackers before we leave for dinner. I about frooze last night catching the fish to smoke but it is great tasting and has become a little tradition we do. Its nice all of my family lives in the area so no one has over a 30min drive.

My wife's aunt still does it the old-fashioned way...20 lb turkey in the oven early in the AM. My parents usually get one of the boxed deals at Giant...where the turkey is precooked, and all you do is heat it up. It's always been pretty good. Dad makes an awesome sausage and pecan stuffing. I keep telling him we need to deep fry one year...

Deep fry is good but I found that slow cooking on the grill with some apple wood chips is the deal.

We're going to deep fry a turkey at FedEx while we tailgate on Sunday. Always good stuff.

But for tomorrow, we go to my aunt's for a good old fashioned Thanksgiving. Since my family is so big she usually cooks 2 25lb birds, with all the extras. Last year i ate so much that I thought I injured myself internally.

I'm hosting the family this time around and I was smart enough to order thanks giving dinner with all the fixings for $110.

Somewhere in the green lot, probably just to the right of Arena Drive.
This will be about the fourth or fifth year we're breaking out the, and we're getting pretty decent at it. Plus when we're done we'll probably chuck some cupcakes in the frier just for shits and giggles.

Thats cheaper then if you tried going out buying all the stuff then cooking it yourself.

I'm sure it will taste just fine, but that statement just begs for disappointment.

Already had one oven-cooked turkey last Saturday at my sister's family gathering. Getting some more turkey tomorrow at the in-laws. And there's rumor of still another feast at my dad's on Saturday.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Re: Who's Cooking Turkey And How

I'm gonna be having the oven cooked turkey as well with my family this year, same as always. My dad always cooks a huge meal and Thanksgiving is one of the rare days where my entire family comes together to celebrate.

I honestly feel like I hurt my stomach a little last night. I had two gigantic piled high plates, and then 30 minutes later went for four pieces of pie which essentially amounted to 2/3rds of a pie. I felt so full that I could feel food where my esophogus meets my stomach, and any bending or twisting would have resulted in involunary upchuck.

Today my stomach honestly feels wierd. It's not like it hurts, but it doesn't feel right. I think I stretched it out something fierce.

God help my sphincter, when the time comes!
