Exclamation Quinn replaces Anderson as Browns quarterback

got this over at the nfl network.looks like anderson's out,and the brady era
has begun in cleveland.

Quote:
BEREA, Ohio -- Quarterback Derek Anderson has been benched by the Cleveland Browns, who will start popular backup Brady Quinn on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos.

The switch was confirmed Monday by the team, just hours after coach Romeo Crennel said he had no plans to make a change.

Anderson, who has been inconsistent this season, threw a costly interception that was returned for a touchdown in the final minutes of Sunday's 37-27 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The pick prompted Browns fans to begin chants of "Brady! Brady!" for Quinn, the former Notre Dame star who has thrown just eight passes in two seasons.

Yep it's true, i just heard on espn that Quinn is the starter now. I'm interested to see how he'll do. I think he has what it takes to be a good NFL quarterback.

Anderson got the Brunell treatment from the Cleveland fans, but let's face it, Anderson's 08 was nowhere near as good as Brunell's 06. This switch is about 5 weeks too late.

As usual the QB takes the brunt of the blame when things are going bad. So when is Braylon Edwards going to get benched?

Seriously, if Edwards doesn't drop the ball that hits him in the hands, in full stride, and behind the defense - perhaps DA is still QB.

I guess it's time for Brady to get a real gig instead of posing in gay magazines

i think that this may be romeo's last season as browns coach if the ship keeps sinking.
braylon edwards has dropped a lot of passes this year and last year, and winslow has got mental problems.

While perhaps Anderson is taking too much blame, he has been terrible. I mean a stinking putrid awful. I never believed in this Browns team - I know a lot of us didn't - but there's no question that DA's inability to recreate last season's success is a big reason for their offensive struggles this year.

Guess his deal with the devil was only good through 13 games or so.

This is a smart move for the Browns. Anderson is overrated. Yes, Edwards dropped a lot of passes, but Edwards didn't help himself with stupid decisions. Time to move on to the future and Quinn is the future.

Re: Quinn replaces Anderson as Browns quarterback

The problem with the Browns is that they are simply a mediocre team. Last year, they caught one of the softest schedules in the NFL and won 10 games. That got folks in Cleveland thinking they were on the cusp of something really special; they weren't.

Changing the QB may help a bit if in fact BQ is ready to live up to the hype he arrived with. On the other hand, maybe he too will have his game dragged down to a level of mediocrity by the rest of the squad.

The Browns will probably win between 7 and 9 games this year with either guy at QB. They are too good to lose 11 games and not nearly good enough to win 11 games.

Re: Quinn replaces Anderson as Browns quarterback

I have to agree with some statements about Edwards. He should be on the bench right next to Anderson. Anderson is playing awful and deserves to be benched. Not sure if Quinn is going to help the situation much. We'll see.

Should have been done a few weeks ago. Browns will mail it in the rest of the year, and Crennel will be looking for work next year.

Re: Quinn replaces Anderson as Browns quarterback

I don't think switching quarterbacks for the Brownies is going to make much difference. Until the Brownie receivers stop dropping passes it won't make any difference. Now, if all of a sudden, Braylon Edwards and company start holding onto the ball, I think the Brownies have a conspiracy. In that case, it would be obvious to me, the players want to play with Quinn and not Anderson.

Well, Quinn didn't fall on his face...looked pretty good actually. Of course, Denver has no D right now with Champ and DJ Williams (among others ) missing due to injury.
