How many more games till campbell gets an extension?
Lets be honest he has played great. And for the first time since joey t..we may have a franchise qb. He is signed through next year, but the dan would be a fool not to save money and lock him up this year the way they did cooley.
Anybodys predictions/thoughts on this subject??? |

If he keeps up this pace we will sign him either late in the year to show he is our guy going into the playoffs or in the off season. I'd perfer the off season as it seem after people get contracts durn the season seem to drop off some in their performance.

Re: How many more games till campbell gets an extension?
I agree completely, we have all learned what his capability is now in this league given the tutorship of a true QB-coach, and I think he is still only at 80% or so of his total potential. So, sign him today, before he takes us deep in the playoffs and we have to pay him Big-Ben or Peyton type money.
This is a great post as I have been discussing this with some of my fellow skins fans this week. I NEVER doubted and always defended Jay-Cam even after week 1 this year. So, not to bask in my own glory but it feels good to have a gut, and be proven correct. It's so funny to me how many of my boys have jumped back on his bandwagon after this great start, you know the ones, who said Collins should be playing after week one! haha |

How mnay more games before he is extended? I hope they wait 12 more. He's played great in 3/4 games this year but the season is still young and a lot can happen. No need to rush this just to save a few $.

If Jason continues to play like this and we wait, the price will be much higher. I would love to see them get something done this year if the cap allows it. Perhaps the Danny could target the bye week to hammer something out.

I'd like to see it happen during the mid point of the year, as long as he keeps playing well of course which I'm sure he will.

Re: How many more games till campbell gets an extension?
But what if he doesnt play well the rest of the way? I dont know for certain but I'm not sure he's won 10 games yet. If he plays good the rest of the way then I say extend him but to do this in a couple more weeks is IMO too early. Based on DS's past moves, I suspect the deal he would get in 3 weeks or at the end of a successful season would be almost identical so the Skins should wait and see if he can actually get it done over the course of an entire season (which BTW would be his first).

I've always liked JC, but I really hadn't been convinced of his ability until the last few games. Seeing him improve from year to year has been apparent though.
I'd say that we wait a little bit before we extend him though. It's only been 4 games this season. I think if he continues to look good, maybe towards the end of the year would be time to answer that question. We're really not in a hurry right now. |

what's the rush? its not his contract year. keep him hungry until the season's up and then pay him accordingly.

Re: How many more games till campbell gets an extension?
There's no rush but the sooner it gets done the Skins could save a few million, and if it gets done during the season you can get his contract on the books now to prorate the deal. Per JLC:
Should the talks get going in 2008 -- and this is purely hypothetical here, just for information purposes only as I know some of you want all the details possible -- here's a little primer on in-season contracts (we haven't had many, or any, of these around here for a long time that I can think of, so I went to the NFL and NFLPA to make sure I had everything straight): The Redskins would have to complete the deal by the end of the regular season in order to include this season in any proration from the new deal. Should the Redskins want any increase in 2008 salary for a player to count as salary in the current year, the deal would have to be completed by 4 p.m. on Nov. 3. Any notice of an increase in a player's 2008 salary declared to the NFL Management Council after Nov. 3 would be treated as a signing bonus. The Redskins are currently about $2 million under the cap. |

Re: How many more games till campbell gets an extension?
the skins need to sign him when the time is right for that to happen...no rush.
but i would certainly have something put together for he and his representatives before seasons end though. i,m sure they will put a deal togther for him...

I'd wait until he plays a full year.

Re: How many more games till campbell gets an extension?
im with Irish on this. wait until the season is over, and if he keeps performing at a high level, then reward him. im sick of carrying dead cap money on the books
