Rating the players on the Redskins
Using the Madden scale (I know, scientific, are we not?), I wanted to put a number on each player, basically where they appear to be based on film over three weeks. I'm using the Madden scale because it's simple and people are familiar with it.
For those unfamiliar with the game, here's how it basically breaks down. 94+ = elite talent who is likely a perennial probowler. 90 = top talent within the context of the team they are on, a player that all gameplans account for. 80 = the "Kitna-Line", basically the lowest level at which a player should expect to keep his starting job. also the level where a backup "deserves to be starting somewhere in the league". 75 = replacement level. these guys deserve to be in this league, but either the team plans for them to improve significantly, or they don't really have a spot in the teams future. below 75 = incredibly cuttible. Obviously, I'm speculating a lot on the backups who don't play much, and I refuse to give Malcolm Kelly a ranking because we didn't even see him in the preseason. Quarterbacks: Jason Campbell 86, Todd Collins 78, Colt Brennan 78 Running Backs: Clinton Portis 87, Ladell Betts 83, Rock Cartwright 79 Wide Receivers: Santana Moss 90, Antwaan Randle El 86, James Thrash 78, Devin Thomas 75, Malcolm Kelly TBD Tight Ends: Chris Cooley 92, Todd Yoder 76, Fred Davis 78 Offensive Tackle: Chris Samuels 94, Stephon Heyer 81, Jon Jansen 81 Offensive Guard: Pete Kendall 86, Randy Thomas 84, Jason Fabini 83, Chad Rinehart 78 Centers: Casey Rabach 76, Justin Geisinger 75 Defensive Tackles: Kedric Golston 86, Corneilius Griffin 85, Anthony Montgomery 82, Lorenzo Alexander 80 Defensive Ends: Andre Carter 91, Jason Taylor 85, Demetric Evans 80, Erasmus James 79, Chris Wilson 79, Rob Jackson 76 Linebackers: Rocky McIntosh 86, London Fletcher 86, Marcus Wasington 83, H.B. Blades 83, Alfred Fincher 78, Khary Campbell 74 Cornerbacks: Carlos Rogers 91, Shawn Springs 86, Fred Smoot 79, Leigh Torrence 78, Justin Tryon 75 Safeties: LaRon Landry 93, Reed Doughty 81, Chris Horton 80, Kareem Moore 79, Justin Hamilton 77 Specialists: Shaun Suisham 87, Durant Brooks 78, Rock Cartwright (KR) 90, Antwaan Randle El (PR) 76

Alot of these ratings are low (portis 86?) are you making these ratings or are they on madden?

Re: Rating the players on the Redskins
Center looks ugly with both guys, according to this scale, "extremely cut-able."
I was a little surprised to see Pete Kendall with a higher rating than Randy Thomas. Also a little surprised to see Andre Carter rated 6 points higher than Jason Taylor. According to this rating system, their ratings should be switched, with Carter as a very strong player, but Taylor the perennial pro-bowler. I think Rocky McIntosh will be in the 90s before the season is over. He looks great right now.

Re: Rating the players on the Redskins
Fletcher should be in the low to mid 90s. He is the heart and soul of the defense.
Springs should also be higher because he shut down bolden( Smoot gave up the TD). Randle El is a good punt returner, he hasnt broken one so far this year but there is no way he is rated in the 70s. |

Re: Rating the players on the Redskins
I'm with you on this one daseal. I've been waiting for ARE to brake one for a td for along time. Heck, i wish he would average 15 or more a return. It seems to me he was much more effective returning punts as a steeler.?

The highest punt return average for a career is Devin Hester with 14.05 yards per return. I think asking for 15 per is a bit high. |

Re: Rating the players on the Redskins
Just curious, what do you think Sean Taylor would have been rated at the peak of his career? 94? Higher? Lower?
