Custom McFarlane
Just finished this up, thought some of you would get a kick out of it. A classic NFC East match-up.
Some more pics of it coggsnyrnyg/Customs/ltmarshjacoby - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Re: Custom McFarlane
Perfect... and it makes sense. 1 good Redskin equals 2 good Giants any day.

Re: Custom McFarlane
Haha, but one good redskin < one great giant + best linebacker, possibly best defensive player ever!!!!!!!
Actually, if I can figure out a way to make another pre-snap O-lineman pose that looks different than Marshall and Jacoby, then I will make Grimm as well.

Nah, maybe in the Yahoo Group/Club days I might have posted something like that.

First you take the figure apart, soak it in very hot water for about 3-4 minutes, makes it softer and the pieces that come apart easily pop out. Then, prime the figure with a spray primer. Start painting the various parts with the appropriate colors. Lots of thin layers. For the numbers, names, Marshall helmet decals, and pants stripes, I made decals in photoshop. After printing the decals, had to seal them with a thing called Krylon Clear Matte finish. Apply the decals to the figs, a couple of solutions help with it. Then paint the sleeve stripes for Jacoby and LT (these I find to be the biggest pain in the ass.) Once I am happy with everything I'll spray the figures with a few coats of Krylon Crystal Clear, seals the paint and provide UV protection in case you display them near a window. Then the helmet you hit with a Gloss coat spray, everything else you spray a few layers of a dull coat spray to take away the shine from the crystal clear. For these figures I did a little re-sculpting, LT's arms are a combination of arms from two different figures, some cutting and crazy glue, same for the Jacoby figure. With Marshall, I used a different head than the original figure (Sapp) and cut the neck so I could make him look in the other direction. The regular Sapp figure, he is looking to the right. Since Marshall was a Right D-End, he'd be looking to his left to see the snap of the ball. For the base, a piece of wood, mark holes for drilling using the legs of the figure, I should have done this before I took the fig apart. The Marshall doesn't have any pegs, but the Jacoby and LT do. When I marked it, I only used the legs, which is why if you look closely either Jacobr or LT and Marshall are in the neutral zone. Anyways, paint the sides. The top I painted green, then elmers glue, with a wet paint brush to spread out the glue. Use stuff called Woodland Scenics Blended turf. Cover the base with it, shake off the excess (a lot doesnt stick), compress the stuff that does. Then use a spray adhesive on of that, add 2 more layers of the blended turf, then spray the whole thing with the Krylon Crystal Clear to seal it all up and protect it. Believe it or not, it is not as hard as it may sound, just takes a lot of patience and even more trial and error.

Re: Custom McFarlane
OK, so what you are really saying is that when football season ended...............and you got over your hangover from the Super Bowl............you had to much time on your hands?

Re: Custom McFarlane
Haha, nah. I still haven't gotten over the Super Bowl yet!!! It is actually the first one I have done in months. Usually a figure will take me a few weeks as I will work on it here and there when I can. There is also a lot of waiting around between steps, and paint coats as you have to wait for stuff to dry. So, if I know I am going to be home all day for whatever reason, I can get make progress on a fig. This I worked on consistently. I go back to school thursday, kids come back tuesday. Between that, after-school center, reffing football, nfl and nhl seasons getting started, I knew if I didn't finish by tomorrow, I might nor get it done til October or even November.

Re: Custom McFarlane
I still go with Jacoby could handle a double team of Taylor & Marshall. You have a very accurate description.

You did an excellent job on these! Glad you didn't spend all that time on Strahan figure!
