The Washington Post August 13, 2008 A shirtless Marcus Mason stood at attention in front of his locker Saturday, seconds after his Washington teammates praised his running style and minutes after his head coach lauded his performance during a 17-14 win against Buffalo. Yet all Mason could ponder was fumbling the opening kickoff. Never mind that the Georgetown Prep graduate rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries. Forget he ran for 98 yards and caught a touchdown pass in the Hall of Fame game six days earlier. Read more >> Despite His Fumble, Redskins Could Find It Hard to Drop Mason |

Mason did look impressive however We re-signed Rock, and Betts looked explosive similar to what we saw in 06. I would rather carry an extra LB in which we have a compelling position battle, than a 4th RB at this point with Rocky coming back from his injury.

I just don't know how we keep Mason? Does he even play on the coverage teams? If he does cover punts and kicks and he plays well on teams the way Rock does then we can keep him. He certainly isn't the returner that Rock has become.

i don't see how we can keep mason. He is right the fumble on special teams hurts a lot. If he was a great returner maybe we could justify keeping him if was to return every game. He'll get a couple more shots to return the ball. We'll see how he does. We have great RB depth. I would be comfortable starting any of these guys if injuries happened. That being said, we don't need 4 RBs.
