What will you be watching for this preseason?

I have always watched the preseason games. The last couple of years have been pretty much meaningless because of our lack of draft picks. The preseason is the time to watch the young guys battle for roster spots. I am really excited about the games coming up in the next couple of weeks so we can watch our young guys and see what they are made of.

I was really amped to see the WR group but that really won't be the case in our first game due to injuries. Still there will be plenty of players to watch this weekend. Brennan, Rhinehart, Horton, Tryon, and Davis just to name a few. Hell, even punts will be worth watching.

Who are the players you are most wanting to see in game action on Sunday?

I'm looking to see how crisp the offense is, and I want to see what the D-line is capable of now that it's quicker (and lighter).

A composed and well functioning Offense, a driven and violent Defense, Special Teams that give a field position edge and Coaching Staff that 'get' it.

That'll do.

I'm going to watch the medical staff remain on the sidelines.

Seriously, I'm very interested to see how Todd Collins performs in a different offense. He should get plenty of reps in for us to judge his football worthiness when Saunders isn't around. Also, would very much like to see our starting offensive line take care of business and showcase to the rest of the NFL what it can do when they are all healthy and hungry.

All I'm concerned about in the preseason is that everyone looks to be in shape and everyone stays healthy. I'll leave my observations for September.

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?

In this game with so many starters out, and with so few reps going to the starters who do play, not a whole lot of conclusions can be drawn from this game.

I do want to get a look at Leigh Torrence and Tryon to see how well they cover. Until Rogers is 100%, we'll need one of them to step into the nickel role, so that's critical. If these guys can't handle the Colts #4 and #5 WRs, then that's not a great sign.

I'm assuming our offense will be a mess, and I'm alright with that at this stage. I'll judge the offense in the 3rd and 4th preseason games.

The biggest thing though: NO INJURIES for God's sake.

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm also curious on how the offense will look. I want to see how well Zorn can call plays. I'm curious how J.C. is going to look. I also want to see how well J.T. will do with the skins.

I'm looking forward to seeing the offense and how well some of the young guys, like Heyer, Rinehard & Crummey, on the O-line play

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?

I'm not sure we're going to get much of a look at the first team offense until the season starts. Sounds like Zorn isn't against holding out key guys and of course there's the injury situation which limits what he can do.

Are we going to get an accurate read on that with Jim Sorgi at QB, though is my main concern.

Re: What will you be watching for this preseason?

I want to see all players grasping the offense. If it's a vanilla offense and the team can't run it, there's an issue. I dont care if it's first team or 2nd team. Looking forward to seeing all the rookies. Brooks, Rheinhart, Tryon, Davis especially. I also hope to see Marcus Mason running the rock.

Matty, along with injuries limiting what he can do, the smaller rosters limit him from playing a ton of no name players.
