Goodell grants limited reinstatement to Pacman Jones

Goodell grants limited reinstatement to Pacman Jones

Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Adam "Pacman" Jones on Monday that, effective immediately, he may participate in organized team activities with the Dallas Cowboys, including training camp and preseason games.

In a letter to Jones, Goodell wrote that a final determination on his reinstatement for the 2008 regular season will be made by Sept. 1.

Goodell told Jones that his continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner.

Jones will be expected to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement.

"This limited re-instatement is a step in the process. Adam is aware of the things that need to be done in order to take the next step," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.

This comes as no surprise to me. I'm sure JJ had to do his best work on the commish, to get his next poster child pointing in the direction of being able to start by the beginning of this season.

They already started assigning him a team number a week ago.

Who is running this league?...because the cowboys are operating as if they know this outcome already. I have a hard time believing that this commisoner is scared to upset Jerry Jones.

no surprise in the decision but I'm disappointed w/the timing. Sounds basically like he's in unless he screws up between now & Sept. 1.

I feel like this is a double whammy, I figured he'd get reinstated, but not this early (I know, he' techincally not in yet). I was hoping that at least he would miss some of camp & be out of shape when the season starts.

I didn't want to think about his on field ability because this guy shouldn't be playing but, no way a guy can come back after a full year outside NFL game field and be the same as he was.

I think he'll suffer in the ability department, he's got to. He hasn't seen game speed football in over a year.

It's like the NBA wanting the Lakers and the Celtics back in the finals...

Their corner's are scary. I hope this jerkoff breaks the law and ends up in jail, where he belongs. People like him are the scum of the earth and allowing him to make that much money and be a role model to children is what is wrong with capitalism. People like JJ should have scruples and not help in giving this guy a job and keeping him in that high profile position. Why would children who know of his story be deterred from doing bad things if we show them that its athletic ability that is important, not how you conduct yourself as a human being. Did you see that bouncer who is now paralyzed for the rest of his life (from waist down) because of Pacman's antics?

Hate to say it and it will piss people off, but if Pacman stays out of trouble and regains his form, this will have been a very shrewd move. They got a shut down corner for next to nothing. Plus throw in Tank Johnson another young, talented but troubled player and MLB Zack Thomas, their defense suddenly has the potential to be one of the top in the NFC.
The Cowboys are young and talented. A good combination. Questions is can they keep these guys out of jail?

Let the Cowboys pick up all the trash of the league, it'll only make us look better when we beat them down with players who have character. This rivalry is really shaping up to be Good versus Evil and I'm happy with the side we've chosen.

Dude, chill out.. Don't bash on people you don't know.. Sure he got in trouble, more than once, but most of them - he was protecting his friends.. Ain't there lot of true friends who protects you.. Granted, he is not a role model but that doesn't give you a right to bash him.. (I didn't know nor heard about that bold part?)

First off your sticking up for a guy which you admitt that you do not even know one of the things that he was involved with. He was at a strip joint and made it rain (throwing money in th air) and a fight broke out (something like that). One of the guys with or around him fired at people out side of the bar and hit the bouncer who is now in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. The unknown part is weather Mr Pac had any thing to do with the shooting. The person arrested said that Pacman put a hit out on the guy and we also know that Pacman paid him money. Pacman said he was blackmailed into paying the guy money and the guy arrested said it was for shooting up the place.

Seriously.

If I were the FBI, I'd be investigating anybody who does try to defend Pacman. Because if you're defending him, you're either deranged or have no respect for the law. Or you don't know the facts of Pacman's run-ins, in which case you shouldn't open your mouth.

To directly address your question, Pacman is reported to have ordered the shooting of the bouncer in the Vegas strip club that led to his paralysis.
