Lito Sheppard is still out there
very good player but i don't know The Eagles askin price. An productive
starter we don't have to worry about draftin CB one at all. We know what we are gettin, a vete and i never heard his name about any off tha field issue. |

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
It's looking like the eagles want a 2nd and something else. Along with being a good player, he's oft-injured and will require a big contract. I personally would hate to see us touch the guy.

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
Plus he is getting up there in age I rather draft a CB and have him for the next 8-10 years.

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
Does CB really have to be a worry for us. Springs is staying and appears to be much healthier on the workout regimen he started two years ago. Smoot is a player (always liked Smooty but the hit he put on hasselback in the playoff game made me love him), Rogers should be back early in the reg season, and in the meantime didn't we hear a lot about Torrence's league-leading speed. If Blache likes to focus on CBs why don't he coach up the Torrence kid and make him a reliable guy?

I'm with you. I'd rather use the 2nd round pick to draft a DB than to trade it (plus what/whoever Philly would be seeking in addition) for Sheppard.

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
Yeah but you are not allowed to breath on a receiver after 3 yards. By contrast NFL Officials hardly ever call offensive pass interference. WR's push off CB's right before the ball arrives and they hardly ever get called for it. Randy Moss and Terrel Owens do it the most and they never get called for it. The rules are not being applied evenly. The NFL wants more offense for the average fan that does not appreciate great defense.

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
Why do the Eagles want to get rid of this guy?
Found some interesting facts about Lito, he is a clutch player: Lito has two of the top 3 longest interception returns in the NFL. He has an 101 yd and 102 yd interception return for TD's. He leads the NFL in Average INT Return Yards since 2003 Player 1. Lito Sheppard INT's 17 Avg 27.1 2. DeAngelo Hall (Atl.) INT's 17 Avg 25.8 3. Ed Reed (Bal.) INT's 29 Avg 24.6 4. Mike McKenzie (NO) INT's 15 Avg 22.9 5. Chris McAlister (Bal.) INT's 12 Avg 22.1 That is a great group of DB's Of Sheppard's 17 career INTS… 3 have ended the game 4 have come in the 4th quarter of a ""close game"" 8 have resulted in TDs (3 returns) 8 have come in the 4th quarter (4 in the final 2 minutes) 10 have come in ""close games"" (+/- 7 points) 9 have come inside the Eagles 10-yardline (4 in the endzone) Not Bad. |

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
I would not mind if we go after him ONLY if he is released from Eagles.. I don't want us to waste our picks, granted it might not be wasted if we trade for Lito but we could use those picks to fill our needs..

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
Not sure I want to give up a 2nd round pick, but I am worried about our CBs. Let's be honest...Carlos Rogers is a bust. A 1st round bust. We drafted him high (9th I think) and he has shown only 3rd or 4th round abilities. He can't catch a football to save his life. His coverage skills are good and he's a good tackler. But he has no ball skills. I still can't forget that first playoff game against the Seahawks (2005 season)...we have a lead early and Carlos jumps in front of a Hasselbeck pass and can dance into the endzone to take a 2 score lead...and lets the ball bounce right off his hands. Seattle continues that drive and scores a touchdown. That's a 14 point swing and I really think made all the difference in the world in that game. And I've seen him drop so many more. He's a good guy...and works very hard...but a bad pick by the skins so early in that draft.

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
If anything the Redskins will be looking for more picks. Right now though I'm banking on Mike McGlynn becoming a Redskin. He makes way to much sense in light of what the team is looking for, in fact it's almost like they're just stoping short of saying his name. The best part is, at the very least he'll be able to replace Rabach in a year or two.
However trading a second for Lito Shepard instead of drafting a Brandon Flowers, Justin King, or Tracey Porter doesn't seem likely in my book.

Re: Lito Sheppard is still out there
By the way...when we drafted Carlos Rogers 9th overall in 2005, Demarcus Ware and Shawne Merriman were then drafted 11th and 12th respectively. SHAWNE MERRIMAN!!! What were we thinking? You never draft for need...you take the best talent available. Carlos was not the best talent and has proven that fact. Sorry if I'm upsetting any Carlos fans, but facts are facts. Add up the pro bowls Merriman and Ware have been to and compare it to the ZERO Carlos has. I love ROcky, but if we drafted Ware or Merriman, we would have had Washington, Arrington and Merriman/Ware...that is a formidable tandem.

ON Sheppard, I don't really want us to give up more than a 3rd for him if anything at all.. While I think Rogers is a bust for his draft slot, he's serviceable.
