Pierce guilty of animal neglect
link: ESPN - Pierce pleads guilty, agrees to pay $1,300 fine - NFL
MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A member of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants has pleaded guilty to neglecting his pet pit bulls. Middle linebacker Antonio Pierce appeared in municipal court in Monroe Township on Thursday and agreed to pay a $1,300 fine. Authorities said one of the dogs was severely underweight and suffering from a respiratory illness. They also said Pierce and his girlfriend let the dogs run loose and failed to get them rabies shots. Jocelyn Maldanado also pleaded guilty and was fined $1,300. A lawyer for the couple said the dogs were given away as part of the plea agreement. The dogs were discovered running around a neighbor's yard in late January, the week before the Giants upset the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl. |

Bad Newz for Antonio. How hard can it be for a multi-millionaire to feed his dogs?

Re: Pierce guilty of animal neglect
I am not condoning his actions toward his animals, but I imagine how difficult it might be when you are a very busy person. In reality he probably had Pit bulls for the sake of having Pit Bulls and not because he was an animal lover.

Re: Pierce guilty of animal neglect
I agree... if you're too busy either don't have animals in the first place or find someone to take care of them for you. Being too busy isn't an excuse.

Re: Pierce guilty of animal neglect
Especially when you make a multi-million dollar salary and can easily afford to pay a caretaker.

Re: Pierce guilty of animal neglect
My guess is the girlfriend was supposed to be taking care of these animals.

Re: Pierce guilty of animal neglect
I saw something about this on ESPN a couple weeks back. He did an interview with them because he said he didn't want the media putting thier spin on it. He also said that he was out of town, and that a friend was supposed to be feeding the dogs, and letting them out. I don't know.....but I"m waiting for PETA's B.S.
