We always talk about, "wait until he retires then we'll talk". Well, Brett has officially called it quits, so where does he rank among the all time qbs in your mind?

Top 10 probably.

For me, just going by the QBs I've personally seen in my lifetime... top 5.

I can understand that.
For me, I put him top 3. My reasoning why is the fact that he did not do things like everyone else. He'd throw that shovel pass, or throw deep off his back foot. While that is dumb, it worked for him. To me, what counteracts the int's is the fact that he was by far the toughest QB to ever live.
I wonder if 5 years from now, if Favre will be my #1?

Top 5 Definitely for me...the man was a testament to how tough a QB could be (mentally and physically).

Statistically he is the best ever holding most passing records. Championship wise he is in the top 10. Passer Rating wise he is in the top 15.
Top 20 - Passer Rating - Pro Football Hall of Fame

I would have to say number 4 all time taking everything else into consideration.

Just out of curiousity, who would be the 3 above him in your opinion?

yea, and plenty of them were dumb, but its not like hes rex grossman and throws 6 a game everyweek, he played for what, like 482 years? The pics will add up. Granted Marino didnt have near that many, and its a notch.

Are there any QBs with two super bowls that arent in the hall of fame (Brady will be)

I have Brett Favre first all time because he's now the benchmark. I also love the way he played the game of football. No one, in my mind, will measure up to him in my eyes. Admittedly, I'm not being objective, but for me, there's no one better.

Top 10 for me.. He's not above (from my lifetime) Montana, Unitas, Elway, Brady not to even mention older NFL vets.. He greatly benefited from a wide open era, favorable offensive rules and expansion (also know as dilution) allowing him to play longer against weaker comp than the old timers. I know Brady has those same parameters, but he has more jewelry.

You should have heard Solomon Wilcots on NFL Radio talking about him. It was like Jesus had just retired from religion. He was saying he was the best there ever was, that Hollywood will be calling for a movie on his life story, blah, blah, blah..

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

I'm sorry, but no way Elway ranks over Favre. There's just no way. I can see others (too early on Brady though), but not Elway.

How many super bowls did Elway go to, four?

Top 20, probably not Top 10. Here are eight guys that IMO are hands down better: Peyton Manning, Brady, Marino, Elway, Baugh, Graham, Unitas, Montana.

Others to discuss; Steve Young, Aikman, Tarkenton, Kelly. Favre was very good, but many of his numbers are inflated because he was so durable and played so long (not bad things, but they do inflate stats).

I'm with you on this....and my argument for him being #1 is that he never had a really GREAT receiver or receivers....Montana had Rice, Marino had Duper & Clayton early on when he put up the big numbers, Mannings had Wayne & Harrison, etc....much the same type of comparison that Gibbs won 3 Superbowls with 3 different qbs....he just won and had so much fun doing it....he always looked like a kid out there when they won. I will say Brady is following him closely....3 Super Bowls with no great receivers....and look at the numbers he put up when he got one....but it didn't get him a 4th......yet.

But he shouldn't be punished for that. If anything it should be the opposite, I'd think. I mean would you rank Kurt Warner one of the game's bests because of 1999 (and maybe 2001?)
