The player rep for D.J. Hackett, whose client has not made any free agent visits, expects the Titans and Redskins to pursue Hackett this week.
"(The Titans) told us Friday they would be in touch with us this week," the agent said. "We were told the same thing by the Redskins, that they would be in touch with us. We are obviously not panicking by any stretch." Source: Titans agree with Crumpler on 2-year deal | www.tennessean.com | The Tennessean _____________________ I'd love to see him come in as our #3. He has big play potential and obviously plays well for Zorn already. Discuss. |

And what would be considered overpayment ? I'm not attacking you or anything but just asking. What would you, or anyone consider overpayment ?

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
I'm torn between Hackett and Bryant Johnson. When Boldin was hurt last season, Johnson stepped in and played great. He's 6-3 215, only 26, and a 1st round talent. Plus he's only missed 3 games total in his 5 year career.
Hackett is slightly smaller at 6-2 208. He and Johnson are the same age, although Johnson has far more experience. Despite only being 4 months apart in age, Johnson has played in 77 games, has 210 catches for almost 2700 yards and 9tds, while Hackett has only played in only 27 games. Although despite playing in 50 less games, he has as many TDs as Johnson, and his yards and catches per game numbers are better, plus he knows Zorn's stuff. This is a tough call. I think Bryant Johnson is the more durable, more talented player who has been buried behind two pro-bowlers in Arizona. Hackett is probably the safer play though.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
Anything more than Lloyd or Randle El got ($10 million guaranteed). Even that might be a little high.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
I'd give Hackett (or Bryant Johnson for that matter, but I'd prefer Hackett) about $12 million guaranteed, $35 million total over 6 years.
This would be nearly identical to what we gave Randle-El, just with some inflation built in. It's about the going rate these days for a #2 type guy.

If anybody thinks they're getting a stud #1 WR with either Hackett (big games, but inconsistent) or Johnson (no big games, but consistent) then they're wrong. So you won't see better than #2 WR numbers from either of these guys. Likewise, they would get paid like #2s: $12 million guaranteed, 6 years, $35 million total

As long as we don't break the bank on him I'm cool with it. I'd be happy with either Hackett or Johnson provided they don't get huge deals.

Johnson hasn't done much over the course of his career to show that he's capable of stepping in and being a big time guy, while Hackett has proved he's capable. |

But if Zorn likes Hackett and wants him then the skins should go get him, sure he knows what DJ has better then any option out there. I'm looking at all the outrageous money flying around the league right now and hoping we don't get burned in a sellers market. Between Hackett and Johnson though? Def Hackett without question
