Randy Moss deal done

According to PFT, Randy Moss has resigned with New England. Here's the link...

MOSS DEAL DONE

A league source tells us that the Patriots and receiver Randy Moss have agreed to a new contract. Per the source, the deal is for three years, $27 million.

The contract hasn't been signed, and the language is being finalized.

It's unknown how much of the deal is guaranteed, signing bonus, etc.

Smart move to retain him.

Re: Randy Moss deal done

ESPN just reported that the deal is not done, but it's in the works and there are some kinks to iron out.
Either way, it looks likely he will sign with the Pats, and that's a smart move for them. I was hoping that wouldn't happen, but oh well.

Scrap that, ESPN just reported that it is now a done deal.

Re: Randy Moss deal done

I really thought he was getting ready to bolt. I don't know how the Pats continue to be able to convince guys to take less than their market value but props to them for being able to pull it off. Other teams like Philly, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore show a lot of discipline in letting their good players walk, but New England keeps them for less money than they are worth!

I agree with you for the most part, but 9 mil a year is hardly less than he's worth. If he was franchised he would have gotten paid 7.2 mil for 1 year. He went for about what he was worth.

Well I don't mean worth in the abstract sense, I mean what he could get on the open market. I am sure he could have signed a larger contract for longer with more guaranteed, coming off the greatest season in NFL history.

Re: Randy Moss deal done

oh well, looks like Culpepper will be stuck either unemployed next season or as a #3 somewhere (my guess is Atlanta). Would have loved to Moss in Green Bay.

Re: Randy Moss deal done

I heard he was really close to signing with the Eagles. Phew. Then we would have had to deal with Plax, TO, and Moss two times each in 2008...

ESPN - Report: Moss was almost an Eagle - Hashmarks By Matt Mosley

Here's the ESPN link:

ESPN - All-Pro WR Moss gets three-year deal to stay with Patriots - NFL

Glad he's over in the AFC and not in Philly.

I understand what you're saying. You're likely right, cause there is always that team willing to throw the kitchen sink at someone they believe would turn the franchise around.

ps- we'll see the REAL Randy Moss this year. He had a vested interest to play on every down last year, plus the 16-0 season...now he has his contract, so we'll see if the old Moss comes out or not.

Re: Randy Moss deal done

I don't think we have to worry about any drama from Moss in NE as long as Brady is tossing him the ball. He'll probably put up big numbers again in '08.
