Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
Man it's amazing how the market was completely non-existent for him.
He really didn't even come back for all that much money. Somewhat on-topic, do you guys think Tommie Harris is worth making a trade for?

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
Yea, thats pretty strange, I thought San Fran had some interest? Its also strange how last year he was "supposedly" going to sit out unless they released him (until it came time for the checks to stop coming in, then he had a change of heart.....)it's all about the money.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
he really thought that we were gonna shovel 20 million guaranteed to him. Sucks for him. At least he gets to be on the field 45-55 plays a game with that offense.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
Tommie Harris is still productive and would probably command at least a second round pick. I stick to my prediction that the Redskins trade a 5th for DeWayne Robertson before the draft.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
I would pass on a trade for Tommy Harris. He has OK numbers in 07, Carter has better. I hope we can address the DT need in the draft.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
Unbelievable.
I really thought he'd sign for a whole lot more money!

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
I am not enamored with the idea of trading for anyone. We'd really need to cme out on top in the deal and that is tough.

I guess his deal shows that the decision to walm away from him last year wasprobably correct.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
I hate seeing us pass on Briggs at this price. That's a big time bargain for a guy of his caliber.
Such is life. We better draft well this year.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
Yeah, that's shocking to me. Absolutely shocking. This is a guy who spent months spitting venom at the Bears and their management and then he resigns with them? And just as surprising is the price. What a bargain! I never thought I'd see the day that Gibril Wilson got more on the open market than Lance Briggs.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
PFT is reporting that the Redskins pursued Briggs and offered him roughly the same deal the Bears did. The Bears definitely got Briggs at a good price; I would've thought he would have gotten a deal averaging $8 million per year with a signing bonus north of $16M. The deals being handed out are simply nuts.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
According to PFT (so it's definitely allegedly) we offered him about the same, and he decided he'd rather stay for the same money.
Sounds shady to me. More likely Briggs' camp is leaking that info to save face a little. The market's a little crazy - linebackers are wildly unappreciated.
