RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
http://rotoworld.com/content/featur...articleid=29977
http://rotoworld.com/content/featur...leid=29977&pg=2 1. D.J. Hackett, Seahawks - He doesn't have the production of players below, but Hackett is the only potential "number one" receiver available. In seven full games in 2007, he topped 100 yards three times with four touchdowns. He'll come cheaply and fits well in a West Coast offense. He can go deep and be a physical receiver over the middle; the main concern is durability. And if you think I'm letting my man-love for Hackett blind me, Scout.com also calls him and Bernard Berrian the top two free agent wideouts. So there! Any West Coast team like the Vikings, Eagles, and Redskins should go hard after him. Seattle will also do their best to keep him. Prediction: Redskins, $13 million guaranteed. I would be t hrilled to get a guy like this without having to break the bank. To many holes to fill. |

Re: RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
This should be our one and only big name free agent. He is coming from the Zorn West Coast scheme that Holmgren ran in Seattle. He is a big receiver and can go over the medium. At 6-2 he could be just what we need. I believe that he will become our number 1 receiver if signed. Which we can move Moss to no.2 and randel el in the slot. If Jason can learn to get the ball out of his hands quick and make the proper reads we can be a dangerous offensive team. Sign Hackett!! Go Skins!!!

Re: RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
a bit off topic but not really worth opening a new thread for this:
speaking of WR's... Everyone keeps mentioning Mix. Am I missing something or are people just liking his potential given his size, speed, etc.? I am not saying he is bad or anything, I mean he contributes on ST and seems to work hard, but as for as a starter... like I said, are we in love with the potential or what?

Hackett probably isn't getting 13 mil to sign. Probably between 8-10 million.

Why spend that much money on a WR? Save that money!
Here's my list: Justin Gage or Ruvell Martin or Andre Davis |

Re: RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
I'd take Hackett over any available FA because he already knows Zorn's offense and he will give us a bigger WR that we have lacked for years. It would also allow Zorn to move ARE to the slot, where he creates far more mismatches. I'm on the bandwagon - Hackett is the only FA we should consider giving a $10M signing bonus. As a side benefit, this signing would allow us to focus our early draft priorities on D-line and CB.

Hackett? This Hackett? Somebody needs to put down the pipe...Hackett and big free agent don't belong in the same sentence. If he is a marquee player that's news to me!!!

Brandon Lloyd did better the season before he came here, imagine what Hackett's going to do. I didn't realize he only had 380 yards. We need to work a trade for Roy Williams. Are the lions open to that?

Re: RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
similar situation to B.Loyd in that the Skins thought Loyd was on the verge of having a break out year before the trade. No other similarities though, Hackett plays like a football player, not just a guy that can run down the field & occassionally make a highlight.
Notice that his stats were good in 07 on a per game basis. He averaged over 5 catches a game. My concern would be the injury bug. If he's been hurt that much early in his career it's not a good sign. I know last year it was just high ankle sprains, which can be recovered from w/no problems usually, but it's still a red flag. |

Re: RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
The last thing we need is an injury prone free agent receiver whose best year is only slightly better than Santana's worst year. Oh by the way he is slower then Moss and probably slower than El too.
10 millions dollars for 2 inches? I hope we get an under the radar receiver i.e. (affordable) or not get a big name receiver at all.... |

If you believe ESPN (I don't) it's down to the Skins and Giants for DeAngelo Hall. The Skins may not have the ammo to get Roy Williams.

Re: RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
hackett should NOT be getting a big deal. though going moss-hackett-el-cooley-portis would be nice, and it would provide better insurance on moss's hamstrings than reche caldwell.

I dont think he will be and if we do get him he will be a nice addition to JC learning of the WCO in the NFL.

Re: RotoWorld Breaks Down FA WR's (Skins Tidbit)
Ok, can we stop talking about trades? We need all of our picks to add depth to the offensive and defensive lines. I think the Skins should evaluate the free agent WR out there, and pick the best out of them. This team has had two big bad habits during the offseason, overpaying big time free agents and trading away picks. They did away with the free agency overspending last offseason, and I think they shouldnt trade any picks this season.
