draft O-line

Just seeing what you guys think about drafting O-line this year.I think we definitely need to draft a guard in 3rd rd.maybe Roy Scheuning or Branden Albert. If we happen to trade down and pick up a 4th then maybe a Center Doug Legursky or Kory Lichtensteiger. If we go free agency perhaps Jason Brown(Balt.)or Rex Hadnot(Miami)Hopefully Jansen will restructure and stay but he has been hurt lately and even when healthy hasn't played well. It's time to look for his replacement IMHO.Thoughts....

Re: draft O-line

I wouldn't mind a DE in the first round and O linemen in the second and third rounds.

Re: draft O-line

I look at this like this: Between now and 2009, the Redskins will need to address the following positions: DE, DT, CB, C, and G. It doesn't really matter which order they address these positions in, except that they want to address the positions as the value dictates to insure that they get quality performers at all those positions.

Re: draft O-line

Well, the O-Line is getting old, so yes, we do need to address it, but not in the top picks. We should use a later pick on a big strong guy that needs work on footwork or something, and let Bugel shape the youngster into a stud. We are always looking for the "quick fix, right now", and what we really need to do is take on some projects that are a couple steps away and coach them up into great players.

First of all, you forgot WR. I feel that we should get a solid, not too huge a name veteran CB to help develop the young group that we have. As far as G and C go, good ones are not too hard to find in the free agency for a reasonable price and even if we do not pursue that route, there are quality O-lineman a few rounds deeper in the draft. As far as D-line goes, from what Ive read Blanche is a very hands on defensive coach. The line being his specialty, I am looking for him to personally select one or two (perhaps DE and DT) and develop them into powerhouses. IMO, the new era of the Redskins will be known for its defensive line instead of its offensive line. Luckily, the Gibbs II era provided for the development of solid offensive linemen for years to come.

Re: draft O-line

Vinny cant even pick his nose. He will probably be confused. Someone should tell him he has to PICK first, then PAY them... not the other way around.

Re: draft O-line

I think drafting O-line in the middle of the draft with 3rd rd is a good idea, maybe with 2nd rd. The more people you have in comp for positions the better they will perform vying for those positions and this is one area that we need top quality performers

Re: draft O-line

I was thinking the same thing, I would love trade up (without giving up too much this time) and get a high 3rd round pick to get a quality gaurd, while I would like to get a safety in the 2nd (Im not sold on Doughty)

Re: draft O-line

After the Giants won the SB today, now the blueprint for other teams to beat them will be stop their awesome Defense. With said I guess OL would be in the cards for us eventhough we need a DE more.
