Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
Thought this was pretty funny on the voting process and how Cris Carter got cut early in the voting process....
"I'm sure Cris Carter, whose receiving numbers were second only to Jerry Rice when he retired, isn't happy with the results. But Carter is a living example of how difficult the process is because he, along with former commissioner Paul Tagliabue, disappeared from the ballot after the first cut of the 15 finalists." He'll get it, but personally i don't like him and am glad he didn't get in. Call it a little vindication for being such an a**.

Re: Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
If Monk had to wait this long I can't feel sorry for Carter just yet.

Re: Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
If Monk had played most of his career in that pass-happy attack, he would have had 1300 receptions and 130 TD's, but better still, he would have taught Randy Moss to be more professional much earlier in Moss's career.

Re: Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
I always said if Joe Montana would have been Art's QB he would have held all the records and not only that but he would of done it against some damn good teams in the division, not the Rams, Saints and Falcons.

Re: Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
What I always wondered is how did John Stallworth get in without Art Monk getting in.

Re: Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
That sums up my feelings perfectly. Monk should have been a first ballot, maybe 2nd ballot hall of famer and meant more to football when he retired than Carter did by far. Carter can wait.

Re: Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
The WR position has gone through such a revolution, not only in number of catches per year, but in career length. There was a time when even the most productive players were 60 catch guys for seven or eight years. Eighty catches is a disappointment now for players in their primes, and Jerry Rice played for 20 seasons.
Monk was around for the beginning of the stat-hog WRs, but never was one. It harmed his case - but thankfully didn't kill it.

Re: Cris Carter didn't even make the final cut
Why doesn't Tags have to wait five years before he is eligible. He retired in 2006 and was instantly eligible for the HOF. I don't understand it. Don't the rules apply to him also.

Executives are different. He will never be in the NFL again. Players unretire all the time (Junior Seau).
