I think Garret is an idiot, seeing how Williams was conned into staying in Washington. Getting an opportunity to coach can be a once in a life time thing. I feel sorry for Williams.

I'll second that about Garret. If the Cowgirls don't put up another obscene season, scoring-wise, he's going to look pretty stupid.

man, if GW is not our coach...I really feel that our team will go back to the pre-Gibbs II era. I am really concerned about this. I just came off an emotional season, making the playoffs. Going back to always missing the playoffs because we have to rebuild or we dont have team chemistry amoung coaches is bull crap. Our players loved Gibbs AND his staff!!!

I don't know about that. The chances of turning the Falcons or the Ravens around before he would be fired are slim. They are 2 teams on the slide and the average 1st time head coach gets what 3 years? What odds do you want to give on either of these teams having a winning record in the next 3 years.

I agree with that as well. However, the point is that an assistant only get so many chances to add "head coach" to your resume, and it's rarely going to be for a good team. Passing it up while he's hot may be a mistake.

I agree. Look at Monte Kiffen, Tom Moore and Jim Johnson. All could have been good HC's but are past the age of getting a first shot at it.

Why is everybody so convinced if GW does not become coach the team will be demolished and rebuilt? I didnt see Tomlin come in and blow up the Steelers and begin a rebuild. Any coach coming to the Skins (GW included)will recognize who is here that can play and where improvements can be made and make those improvements (as Gibbs would have done if he stayed). An NFL team is never a "finished" product.

I find it very interesting that GW has not interviewed or even asked to interview for any other HC position.

Tomlin was brought in from the Vikings where he was their defensive coordinator.

Williams has been paid an above market wage as DC for us and will get another shot to coach whether it is with us or with someone else. Besides, the jobs he turned down a shot at (St. Louis and Houston - it's fair to assume Edwards was getting the KC job) aren't exactly the greatest. He probably would have ended up in St. Louis and that might be the worst job in the league.

So I think he'll be fine. It's the team I am worried about.

You're right you really did just come off an emotional season. No I in team. Just felt like pointing that out. Now to be serious, I agree with you man, it is one of those situations where things were really working well for the team and "it it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a mentality we should think about as we go through appointing a new coach.
