A week late "I told you so"

I just want to remind everyone that back when I sat at a desk all day, before this site got a makeover I was a pretty active member of this site. And during that time I went to bat for Andre Lott, now a lot of you were quick to crucify me because I bashed your false God Ifeani Ohelete. I was ripped for saying that I like Andre Lott and that I hoped he would win the starting job in last season's competition at safety. Now look where Ifeani has landed...3rd String behind my boy Andre Lott. Lott even held off Sean Taylor for about a week in camp, which isn't too bad considering this has been Taylor's job to lose since he was selected fifth overall by the Skins. So, in conclusion, I believe Lott should bump Bowen from the starting slot because he sucks too.

Oh by the way, I'm also the biggest Ladell Betts hater on this site and for some reason I don't think he played last night. Hmmm...doesn't look too good for him after what Sultan did. :smashfrea

I'm not a big fan of Iffy myself.

As for Betts he's a little dinged up and didn't make the trip.

same here as well as gari scott, both just seemed to be where ever the play was and/or making the play. and Sultan made some very nice cuts and runs last night.

I wanted to see Scott Cloman get some balls.

Ohalate is fast, young, and talented. Lott did well, but I still like Iffy better. He showed up most of last year.

are you guys going to have the four dollar meals menu, because those things rock!!!

And I think we might as well start bowen at SS because all we are going to need is a guy that hits hard. Taylor will pick anything thrown deep, so we'll let bowen knock a running back around after a screen play. Assuming bowen takes out the same aggression on the opposing team as he does no hes team members in practice...

I don't know, this might be way out there, but I think Iffy 3rd string has to do with him and the whole holding out for more cash for the # 26. Gibbs says he wants Redskins with character and the whole thing, to me, seem to lack character. I can understand a player not wanting to give up his number for various reason, but to hold for more cash seems shallow. As far Lott is consider, I agree he looked good in HOFG, camp reports seem to say good things, hopefully they can find a way to get him on the feild.

Uhh, I honestly think Ohalate got sick of Portis's constant bitching about the number and gave it up so they could move on. Why not get some cash out of him for it too. He didn't do a damn thing to hurt the team.

I've seen Bowen rock Redskins, but he always seems to whiff on the other team. Mr. Clean is useless.

I can't see Gibbs punishing a player like that. Iffy is #3 on the depth chart for a reason, but I highly doubt it's because he didn't want to give up his #.

I think Iffy is #3 because of who else is on the team. Mainly, Bowen and Taylor. Bowen is a better SS than Iffy and Taylor is a better FS. Last year, Iffy got on the field only because of the staff pushing Bowen into the FS role. This year, with the addition of Taylor, Bowen is going to be allowed to play his natural postion of SS.

I think the problem with Iffy is that he doesn't fit in well w/ our defensive scheme. He's too damn SLOW.

I don't know about you guys, but did any of you see N.Clemons (D-lineman)? He put some pressure on the QB and I think he even got a sack!? As far as Betts goes....if this kid can't stay healthy then I think we should just trade him. McCullough, and Simon ran the ball ok. I've always been a fan of Sultan. I am also very dissapointed with Cartwright.......first he can gain a yard then once he breaks for a gain he fumbles.

We're going to need Betts in short yardage situations, Rock Cartwright is just too short & small to be consistently counted on in those situations. A lot of people didn't play this week, should we just dump those guys too? How about we wait a second before we go cutting former 2nd round picks?

I think Lott is first team because they are going to cut him or trade him. Think about it, Iffy was a starter last year and just signed a contract extension. And you always showcase guys you want to trade in the preseason. Taylor is clearly the goods, he's big, fast, and seemingly everywhere. I mean aren't free safeties normally on the right side of the formation? Then how did he get to the left side to make that pick he scored on? But I don't think it looks good for Lott, I think the coaching staff does like the guy but I'm not sure he's going to make the team unless he starts to make some plays.

I don’t care where Andre Lott is on the depth chart right now. Basically, from what I understand, Lott is playing with the first team because he is far speedier than Ohalete. Ohalete can’t bring the blitz whereas Lott can. In my mind, until proven otherwise by solid play on Lott’s part, Ohalete is far superior to Lott as a free safety. Maybe Lott fits better in Williams’ system because we have no pass rush and need LBs and safeties to bring some heat, but that doesn’t make him the better player.

Simply because Stephen Davis was not involved in a lot of plays 2 years ago did not mean he was impotent, just that he didn’t fit Spurrier’s system.

If your looking at the defense from QB's perspective the FS is on the left side playing a little deeper than the SS on the right. I never said that we should "cut" Betts. I just think that if he can't stay healthy than why keep him? I don't think the redskins would cut him before seeking a trade. But then again that's just my opinion.
