Will Todd Collins Return in 2008?
I'm loving this guy like crazy, as we all are I'm sure. But I'm kind of nervous, really nervous, about him being a free agent next year. I mean there are a lot of mediocre quarterbacks out there right now, and you can see how much of a difference a good quarterback can make on your team.
I know this is a horrible time to entertain such a question with a big playoff game coming up, but who are the possible suitors for Collins next year? Especially knowing that Jason is still going to be the guy. |

I was thinking about same thing.. All I can say is I really hope we will resign him - release Brunell and give his money to Collins..

I think he stays on as long as Saunders does.

If I were Collins, I'd stay. He's 36 years old, knows Saunders' system, has Saunders and the fans pulling for him, and Gibbs loves experienced QBs. If he wins a playoff game or two, there's no way Gibbs goes with JC in week 1 of the 2008 season. As much as I love JC, TC has earned the right to be the starter.

Re: Will Todd Collins Return in 2008?
love to see him stick around but I think 2 questions are out there:
1) will we be willing to spend the money to keep him knowing he is the number 2 and 2) if he has a chance to start somewhere else, at his age will he want to stick around I don't know the answer to either question but I hope he sticks around

Re: Will Todd Collins Return in 2008?
Next season he will be a #2, no question (I think). But his value to our team now that we know that he can step in and be the starter is worth a little more than what you pay any old backup. With himon the team we have two starters. I really hope he stays. And the way Joe likes to stock up veteran depth at the QB spot, I think Collins stays.

what would the skins be without a good qb controversy to stir things up Sonny-Billy Billy-Joe and all the others I remember Joe T returning punts just to get playing time. there's something you would never see in this era

We all know how much Gibbs loves a vet QB.
Who knows,JC may be watching again next year. |

Re: Will Todd Collins Return in 2008?
My opinion is that Collins should remain with a promise from Gibbs of open competition.
This means 2 things....a 2 year contract for Collins with starter bucks and a 3 year extension for Campell for the same. Thats a lot of loot. Our capologist will have to see how that is possible. I dont think Collins wants to relearn a system and move...especially if he leads a team to the playoffs with a playbook he has memorized. I think he may even transition to a QB coach for us long term.

Re: Will Todd Collins Return in 2008?
i hope he stays. i hope that teams consider the fact that he is running an offense he has known for years and that deters them from offering him a starting job elsewhere. we really need him to stay here next year

Let's hope so. His presense and mental preparation will be a great example for Campbell, and will make Jason a better QB in the long run.

Re: Will Todd Collins Return in 2008?
Collins is great and all but we'll see how much he'll command. Not to take away from Collins but without Saunders offense what kind of QB would he be? I think the reason he's so good is due to him knowing the Saunders inside out, put him in another offense and I don't think he would be as successful.
