Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
I don't know if this is being discussed somewhere else and I would think it will be decided by NBC very soon, but the Week 17 Sunday Night game is Jets (3-11) verses Chiefs (4-10) A real stinker of a Nationally Televised game.
We all know on this site that the Cowboys/Redskins game would be a great option, but both the Skins and Boys playoff fates and seedings could be decided this weekend making our game of little to no significance by Week 17. So who should NBC move to that Week 17 game next week, knowing what we know now before Week 16? Maybe Panthers @ Bucs? Or Titans @ Colts? |

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
Even if the Skins/Cowboys game has playoff implications, didn't the Cowboys already reach their limit of 6 for nationally televised games?
I'm not sure of the rules, but I recall reading about them in another thread. If not the Skins/Cowboys, I'd like to see the Titans/Colts, and that is probably the most likely given the popularity of Manning and Young.

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
The Week 17 flex game gets decided only 6 days before the game, as opposed to 12 days. We won't find out until after the games this week.

Onlydarksets, good catch on the 6 days thing which only applies in Week 17. That is great for NBC. I am sure they have a few games in mind and then can make their decision sometime late Sunday night or Monday morning I guess. They will have to give the Madden crusier enough time to get moving!! |

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
If the Vikings win Sunday night then the Skins/Cowboys game may not mean much and the Panthers would be knocked out as well. Then the Titans/Colts game might be a good one, even though the Colts aren't playing for anything anymore.

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
The Skins/Cowboys game would be a good move to 4:15pm then. The other two late Fox games are St. Louis @ Arizona (who cares?) and Minnesota @ Denver (pretty good matchup actually).
Maybe Titans/Colts will be the one moved to Sunday night. I could also see Saints @ Bears if the Vikings lose to us this week, making that game a must win for the Saints to get in. |

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
I hate the flex game because it comes on so late but I get all the Skins games and I'm sure others here love them because its on national TV.
Yes, Skins vs Dallas is not an option as Dallas has had 6 prime time games. |

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
I mentioned it in another thread, but I would imagine Fox will move the Skins/Cowboys game to 4:15 on Dec. 30.
Looking at the schedule, games that could get moved for playoff implications look like (ignoring other teams that can't move because of reaching their limit): Saints/Bears, Jaguars/Texans, Steelers/Ravens, Browns/49ers and as mentioned before Titans/Colts

The late game will be the Patriots and the Giants.

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
Yeah with the Pats going for the undefeated season. Hopefully not though, it would be great to see the Skins close out against Dallas at The Big Jack (YES I still call it that) under the lights !

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
A Saturday night game, especially one on NFL Network, can't and won't be flexed. An exception to the rules would have to be made and it's really unlikely that would happen.

Re: Week 17 Flex Game possibilities
I agree Smootsmack, the NE@NYG game would be good for NBC on Sunday night, but they won't take that game away from the NFL Network on Saturday. Plus there is the other motivation of the League keeping what could be the Undefeated Season game on their Network, again just to piss off cable companies everywhere who won't put NFL Network on Cable. So glad I have Direct TV in HD!
