Reggie Bush out for year - bad for Saints, good for Skins

Well - from what I understand if New Orleans wins out they are in no matter what the Skins do. With that in mind at least one thing is on the Skins side - Reggie Bush is out for the year according to 2 league sources:

"Tailback Reggie Bush, who visited with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday for a second opinion on his damaged left knee, definitely will not play again in 2007, two league sources told ESPN.com."

ESPN - Saints' Bush won't require surgery for PCL injury - NFL

Not necessarily. Stecker went over 100 yds last night. Bush hasn't really been an effective every down back yet. I think they might be better off since they won't have to worry about tailoring the gameplan to get Bush involved.

Also ATL's run D is a bit overrated this year. In general their offense sucks too so the D was on the field way too much.

I agree that Bush out isn't a big deal bc the Saints are picking it up. There are pretty much the only thing which is not under our control.

Simply speaking if both the Saints and Skins win out, then Saints get in. Saints need to lose.

Bush has been pretty horrible thus far in the NFL. This doesn't make the Saints any worse for the balance of this season.

As long as they have Brees, the Saints will be fine.

Their best chance to lose is this weekend agaisnt the cardinals..they have a pretty bad pass defense..hopefully the cardinals bounce back from that bad loss against the seahawks. they have philly and chicago left on their schedule.. If we win and they lose this week what a game it will be against the vikings...

It's a shame we have to rely on so many scenarios to make the playoffs.

Just thinking back at all those coulda, woulda, shoulda games is heartbreaking.

He has around 2400 total yards and 14 TDs in less than two years of playing. Not the best in the NFL but its not horrible. I really have not seen him play enough to know if the Saints use him as they should.

The Saints use him a lot. This year he leads the league in drops per pass catch and fumbles per touch. He had a notably bad rookie year, and if anything, he's been worse this season.

Re: Reggie Bush out for year - bad for Saints, good for Skins

He had a decent rookie year, he caught a lot of passes (over 70 I think) & helped them spread the offense out. Remember they had a potent O last year. They looked good last night too, but Atl. maybe the worst team in football.

Bush is not an every down rb, and was having a tough year. I still think he's valuable to them, but they're not gonna miss him this year.

I know - beside the Patriots blowing us out we were in every game. A buddy of mine actually said that another scenario is if the Skins win the rest of their games and the Gaints lose all their remaining games we get in over the Giants - I think we have to cross our fingers and hope the Cardinals beat the Saints this weekend as our best chance though!

It's actually, as far as I can tell, pretty simple. We win three and the Saints lose one and we are in. If we don't sweep, although mathematically not eliminated I just don't see us getting in.

Say it with me.... sweep sweep sweep.
