Thanks for all the reports, Joe. Muchos appreciated.
I had a pretty good view of Sat. afternoon's practice, and the sense I got was basically that: 1. Our defense has the upper hand on our offense, no matter who plays QB. The pressure on the QB is pretty decent (maybe its cuz Randy Thomas didn't practice, and that affected the quality of the blocking) 2. Ramsey is by far the best qb. Brunell didn't show much, and Hasselback was ok. Hamdan is on the practice squad for a reason - he saw significant action on sat afternoon and threw 2-3 picks. Won't be surprised to see him gone. 3. Shawn Springs looked rather impressive. 4. Matt Bowen is pretty dominant at strong safety. Sean Taylor has started showing plenty of glimpses of his immense talent...had a great pick off Ramsey. |

If I added up Crisp's numbers right, here's where the QB situation stands after one week:
Brunell: 10/29, 1 INT Ramsey: 21/34, 1 fumbled snap Hasselbeck: 7/19, 1 INT Hamdan: 2/4, 1 INT Crisp, as usual, that was some fine, fine work you did out there. Hopefully we can find you a full time gig soon. I'll keep working on trying to find you something

10 of 29? Ugh
So Brunell's completion % was 34.5, Ramsey 61.7 and Hasselbeck 36.8. |

This does give us a general idea of how the quarterbacks have performed so far. I thought it was interesting to note that Brunell seems far more likely to throw the ball away under pressure, rather than scramble or try to hit the short dump-off. Ramsey, on the other hand, was very effective at dumping the ball off to his safety valve receivers, and even scrambled for a 10-yard TD on one play in 9-on-9 drills. Ramsey also displayed far better placement on his deep throws than Brunell, and his delivery was consistently half-a-beat quicker than Brunell's on most passes. As the stats clearly indicate, Ramsey was undeniably the victor through the first week of training camp. |

I guess we'll find out how genuine Gibbs was when he said Ramsey will be given the shot to compete for the starting job. I for one believe him, I'd just love to see what blowhards like Lenny P say about it. Well, I can already guess, he'd harp on the fact the Skins gave big $$ to a veteran backup who couldn't beat out a 3rd year guy. It's a no win situation with that guy.
