At least Peter King was respectful of Taylor
I've been critical of Peter King in the past, but his measured response to the unfolding tragedy would be a good example for Michael Wilbon, Leonard Shapiro, and others who piled on while Taylor lay dying:
SI.com - Writers - Peter King: Taylor's death will have deep impact on 'Skins, players around NFL - Tuesday November 27, 2007 2:32PM SI.com - Writers - Peter King: London Fletcher calls Taylor a leader - Tuesday November 27, 2007 10:11PM Taylor's INT that King described against Green Bay might be one of the greatest plays I've ever seen a safety make. |

Re: At least Peter King was respectful of Taylor
I wanted to hurl each time I heard Michael Wilbon remind us that it was his job to report Sean Taylor's past, and the “ugly theories” that he swore would unfold in the wake of this tragedy. He also couldn’t emphasize enough that it was also NOT his job to pacify Redskin fans.
All we wanted was respect while we mourned, while kids cut class to weep on Warpath, while I tried to fight tears on a NYC subway. All we wanted was a fair approach to journalism, and THEN report on the facts. I thought that Wilbon being a Chicago sports fan would have understood that. Guess it was all about the scoop. I’m just thankful that arrests were made before Sally Jenkins went to print. And don’t get me started on that equally big tool, Tony Kornheiser. |
