HOF Semi-finalists

Of the 26 semi-finalists for HOF this year (I know that some people would rather not look ahead yet but it was just announced):
Monk (hopefully gets in this time).
Joe Jacoby
Russ Grimm
Darrell Green (1st year eligible).

Any chance all four make it?

Re: HOF Semi-finalists

Green definately makes it in...he redefined the position with his speed.

Monk...finally, he obviously should have made it a long time ago and the voters would have a hard time justifying not letting him in and then letting C.Carter in with roughly the same numbers and type of career.

Jacoby and Grimm not so sure...it's very tough for linemen to get in unless they are unbelievably special...

IMO they should, the field is not that crowded this year with Tagliabue and D. Green being the only two defiante shoo-ins, the questions becomes now, do the voters in thier "infinate wisdom" (arrogance) want to put in four guys who all played on one team?

Re: HOF Semi-finalists

It better be Monk, and I agree about DG.

Probably take a bit longer for JJ and Grimm, but you never know. They'll probably suffer because the whole line was great. That's the curse of playing on a great all-around team, I guess.

Green is a lock. How sweet would it be to see him and Monk go in together? If they do I'm so there.

I have a feeling this is the year. See you there.

If Monk doesn't make it...the question becomes...will Green use his HOF status as a bully pulpit to argue for Monk like Aikman did for Irvin?

I for one am betting he will.

Re: HOF Semi-finalists

I just wonder how many Darrell Green votes will cancel out votes for Art Monk. You just KNOW there are some people who will not stand for multiple Redskins going into the Hall at one time.

On that same note, what's the record for one team getting multiple players in at one induction ceremony?

Now you beat me to it!

It's going to take someone shaming the voters into electing Monk. The best example of this was Swann pulling for Stallworth.

Re: HOF Semi-finalists

That would be pretty sweet to see them go in together. If it does happen I think I will have to make my first trip to Canton too. The cherry on top would be if the Redskins got to play in the H.O.F game. That would make for one unforgettable weekend.

And technically Andre Reed played briefly for the Redskins as well

Re: HOF Semi-finalists

Maybe the voters were planning this all along...and gonna vote Green AND Monk in at the same year. HA! I hope they all make it, I'd have to make that trip to Canton too!

Monk: its time
Green: If DG doesn't make it, any faith (of which there is very little) in the Hall of Fame process will be shattered.

Re: HOF Semi-finalists

I think Reed is going to take away votes from Monk. I think alot of people are going to make the arguement that they have similar stats but Reed was more of a downfield threat. If Reed makes it in before Monk, then I give up on the HOF.

Re: HOF Semi-finalists

I gave up on the HOF folks a while ago. It's basically a popularity contest now which takes away from players accomplishments.
