Campbell takes losing hard
Thought this was interesting:
Link: washingtonpost.com - nation, world, technology and Washington area news and headlines Campbell's teammates continue to rally around him, with the second-year starter taking losses as hard as anyone in the organization. Campbell cried after Sunday's loss, angry with himself for a late-game interception on what overall was his best performance in the NFL. Gibbs called on Campbell to throw the ball 54 times to try to keep pace with the Cowboys, and the youngster responded in every way but ultimately pulling off the comeback. Campbell remained a harsh self-critic yesterday. "It's tough, we keep losing all these close games and we're playing so hard as a team," he said. "You're fighting your hearts out and it seems like things don't go our way towards the end of games" Tackle Chris Samuels, who struggled at critical junctures against Dallas linebacker DeMarcus Ware, was among those to console Campbell after the game. "We saw him crying in the locker room and that just shows how much Jason, how much passion he has for the game, how much he loves it," Samuels said. "He takes it really hard. And we all encouraged him and told him everybody makes mistakes. Even I had mistakes in the game. You've just got to stay encouraged and let it roll of your shoulders and bounce back." Said Gibbs of Campbell's emotion, "That's probably something you can't manufacture and you can't hide, and I think it shows up in the way he plays and I think that will continue to be the case with him." |

Re: Campbell takes losing hard
I read this earlier today, I was kind of surprised he cried and all. Talk about heart!
This really is a good sign, and it's good to see the team rally around him at the same time. The offensive line will block like hell for a guy like this. |

Wow, Kid wants it, that's for sure. Great to see but i'm sure he didn't want the crying thing public. Eh, who knows, maybe he doesn't care. More power to him. He sure seems like the real deal so far, doesn't he?

I doubt he cares that it got out. If these guys don't have some fire in their eyes this week, nothing will help them.

Yeah, it just feels like they're soooo close to figuring it all out.

Re: Campbell takes losing hard
I think they figured it out already, watch this weekend's game. You have to love Campbell, a classy, humble, tough individual. He's reminding me of Art Monk.

Here.
His teammates don't seem to have a problem with it and I don't see why they would. Some fans on the other hand... |

Re: Campbell takes losing hard
I'm sure Matty is talking about around here. it to me its refreshing to see a player that actually cares enough about winning to break down alittle bit

Re: Campbell takes losing hard
It'd be the same people constantly wishing injury to Romo or any other player we face.

Re: Campbell takes losing hard
This guy is a gem. Say what you will about Gibbs' coaching record this time around, but if he delivers us the franchise QB that we haven't had in decades, everyone should be kissing Gibbs' ass.
This is a QB-centric league and it is extremely difficult to be a great team without a great quarterback. There are teams like the Ravens and the Bucs that have historically had success without solid QBs under center, but they are the exception to the rule. It should come as no surprise that we've had trouble fielding a great team in the past decade or so given that we have been relying on guys like Tony Banks and Shane Matthews to lead our offenses. If JC turns out to be the kind of QB we have all been looking for, this franchise is set up for a good run and many self-proclaimed experts will attribute our success to better coaching, better moves by the front office, better play by the players at skill positions, etc. when in reality our success will come down to having a guy under center who can make plays. |

Re: Campbell takes losing hard
Gibbs has an unbelievable ability to judge QBs, even when most of the football population can not. He took a huge risk in sending Ramsey to the way side because he obviously thought he can do better. The early returns show that he was correct.
There are only a few things that seperate a historically great coach from a run-of-the-mill good guy, but Gibbs has that in spades.
