The sky is falling - Dr. Z will vote for Monk
Could this be it? Finally??
After last year's debacle, I just don't know anymore. I was convinced after King changed his vote that Monk was a shoe-in. Hopefully this changes it and the man FINALLY gets what he deserves. SI.com - Writers - Dr. Z: My votes off the preliminary Hall of Fame ballot - Thursday November 8, 2007 9:34AM "And now we come to Art Monk. I'm tired of being a negative. I'm tired of all the impassioned letters asking me what did he ever do to me. I've been thinking long and hard about this. OK, he caught a lot of short passes but he also bought a lot of first downs, and he was a terrific team guy, well-respected and a pleasure from whom to borrow money." I still think its a back-handed approach and doesn't properly credit Monk for ALL of his on the field attributes - but, if it removes an obstacle to Monk's election, I am all for it.

He also has Darrell Green as the number one corner to be inducted.

Re: The sky is falling - Dr. Z will vote for Monk
I saw this earlier this morning... was afraid to post another dup thread! Anywho... FINALLY. I hope this wine monkey can swing enough votes Art's way to get him in the hall. I agree that Carter is hall-worthy but not necessarily first ballot worthy. Especially after all of that scheisse he was talking a month or so ago about Monk not having enough pro bowl appearances to warrant induction... #28 and #81 in the same year would be amazing.

As I read it he was saying he was voting for those guys to be put on the list of 15 finalists, I'm not sure that guarantees his vote for induction. I'm just saying, he ticks off quite a list of names on there and what, only six or seven can possibly get in right?

Chris Carter - All he does is lose conference championship games.

LOL. I wonder if he'll do the dance if he gets in?

After this long, I will not believe it until I see it. But this is encouraging.

Re: The sky is falling - Dr. Z will vote for Monk
Actually, doing a direct comparison, Carter blows Monk out the water in receptions, yards and nearly doubles him in TD's. However, Monk blows Carter out of the water with super Bowl rings, which seemed to be good nough for Lynn Swann.

Re: The sky is falling - Dr. Z will vote for Monk
You know, 6 months ago I would have had no arguement with Carter going to the hall. I always enjoyed his style of play and think he would have fit in. But I can't look past the point that he felt his own enshrinement was so important as to denigrate one of the all time class players in the NFL. To my mind, he can wait 1or 2 years and learn some humility.
