John Eubanks signed from practice squad.

Well I don't know if this guy is ready, but what choice do we have?

If Smoot continues to be injured I think we are in trouble. But I really think we need to look at losing Rodgers as losing a key guy. A guy who comes up and smacks some running backs in the mouth. Yeah the guy will drop an interception or 2,3,4. But he is good cover guy. He has definately been improving over his career and I think he was having a great year before we lost him. I've read some saying that rodgers was a bust lately, but he is a beast in "OuR" d scheme.

Anyway I really don't remember much about Eubanks from the preseason. I know he dropped a few punts or kickoffs early in the preseason. That's about all I remember of the guy. Thoughts about him?

Is he better than Byron Westbrook? I would much rather see Byron make it.

Re: John Eubanks signed from practice squad.

I remember Portis really singling out Eubanks for praise at the end of last season.

And, not to be a pain, but does anyone else get peeved when people spell it "Rodgers" Carlos Rogers has no D (hardy har har har)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Westbrook doesn't get a chance later in the season. There always seems to be injuries and such, and he could very well get his chance down the road.

Good luck filling big shoes Mr. Eubanks. However, this will be the Torrance/Macklin show for a while. One of these 2 guys have to step their game up and resecure the secondary.

Re: John Eubanks signed from practice squad.

Smoot should be back this week, he was close last week but was a late scratch.

I am personally excited about that. I hope that helps us cover a bit better. The main fear I have is that without Carlos, our D wont be able to cover at all and the only way to win would be a shootout and I just dont think our offense can do that, especially with a torn up line.

All I know is that we need find a way to put up points, because our TOP gameplan didn't work because our offense might not be healthy for it. I think we need quick scores and turnovers. And I know this is kinda unrelated, but just a thought.

Re: John Eubanks signed from practice squad.

I'm worried about Smoot not being the same physical corner that Williams had in Rogers. Don't get me wrong, I like Smoot, but he's not the type of guy that can consistently come up and play the run or go after the QB. Check that, he can come up and attack the running back, but he will shatter his shoulder in the process.

On that note, why is it that the front office gets beat like the drum over its failure to stock our O-line with great depth whereas it gets little credit for our depth at CB? Teams can only have quality depth at so many positions.

Smoot really needs to step it up. I don't want to keep hearing "Well I could have played last week"

The value of my username is diminishing each week with this guy.

It just goes with the territory. People love to focus in on the negatives.

I guess it's up to the Kool-Aid drinkers to point out the positives more.
