I believe we have our 1, 2, and 3 for the first time in years. However, Denver has our 4th (from the three way trade for Duckett), and the Jets have our 5th (for Kendall). If Kendall plays more than 80% of our snaps, we keep our 5th, and the Jets get our 2009 4th round pick.

First round- either WR or DE whoever on the board available is the best talent

Second round- same as 1st round

Third Round- Guard/center

or

Trade first round pick for additional 2nd,3rd & 4th picks.

Here's the problem, or at least A problem. We need some help in a couple of areas. First of all, I hate drafting defense AGAIN but GW's defense only works if we have above average DBs and safeties. Springs is gone next year, so guess what, we need a No. 1 DB cause Smoot and Carlos aren't legit No. 1s and they couldn't last the whole year anyway (Smoot especially). Then we need to address both lines and WR. My thoughts are to do WR thru free agency, use the draft for the DB and o-line.

Or look at it another way: If Saunders completely takes over the offense (say Gibbs leaves entirely or becomes the GM w/o coaching responsibilities) we could see some pretty unexpected changes. Saunders got used to average receivers playing above average football during his KC tenure, so he may be satisfied w/ what we've got there. Rumor has it he doesn't like Portis too much, that Portis doesn't fit well into offensive scheme while Betts is a better fit. So what if we address the corner position (I think everybody agrees that w/o Springs it has to be first), then Saunders looks for a rookie RB to work behind Betts (who will start), then we address the line.

Personally, I think we have to address right tackle on the o line - other positions solid but Jansen is definitely on the decline and may be done for good. Defensively, one more young tackle should do it.

Thoughts?

MTRedskinsFan -- I think Marcus Mason is next in line for our stable of running backs. I must admit, something doesn't seem right with Portis to me. I'm not seeing the explosiveness Im used to. I know he gets caught/hit behind the line a lot -- but I mean even in the open field I feel he may have lost a step. RBs in general have a short life span, especially RBs that play as physical as Portis.

This draft has to go Round 1: best WR or DE available, rest of the draft: O line depth. Especially guard.

I still don't see WR as top priority. I'm not a Moss fan but can at least believe this is his low pt - next year should be better. We have ARE (playmaker). Caldwell, who I thought would be used more already, could be worked into the system too. I know we need to draft a WR, but the Saunders style (assuming he finally controls the O) is to build a monster o-line and let the other guys get the benefits in rushing, pass protection, etc.

I still say DB, right-side o-line tackle, WR, d-tackle. D-line can be moved back because Montgomery has turned into a quality player, Daniels is getting real hungry, Carter an f'n beast, Grif will still be a force and Golston is developing.

But for shits and giggles, what college WR would be worth our 1st round draft pick (cause you know I'd like to see some high-octane offense).

i see line( both sides) as being the number 1 priority. we almost cannot draft a wide out.

He can't carry the extra weight he put on a couple of years ago, and that 1500 yd season as I predicted probably took 2 to 3 years off his longevity, perhaps for the most part his first 2 years with us just about killed his playing career, he's just not built for conventional running.

Re: Do we have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in this years draft??

this thread is crazy. we are 6 games into this season, and talking about the draft?? someone should shut this crap down, plus saying Jansen needs to be replaced. Jansen is a beast. He never missed a game until the Achilis thing, then someone fell on him and broke his leg. dude, the guy is a beast of an oline man. we need him back next year.

OL is our priority, in our 1,and 2 rounds. bring in Larry Johnson to replace portis. get FA WR (middle round talent)

Yea, let's worry about the draft after the season. Can't help it though...the duckett trade was almost as bad as the lloyd, bailey-portis deal....I'd rather just forget they ever happened.

Does anyone know what Archuleta has to do for us to get a 5th rounder from the Bears? Wasn't it for a conditional 6th rounder?
