Redskins v Patriots predictions

It's Wednesday, so it must be prediction time.

I have to be honest and say I am absolutely dreading this game. I love our defense, and we've all seen it a million times where a dominant offense gets shut down by a dominant defense. Can the Skins shock the world? Sure, why not? Stranger things have happened, right? With the Colts on the horizon the Patriots could get caught looking ahead and really who could blame them if that happened? But as we all know Belichick is great at keeping his team focused and they rarely ever have a letdown game.

Alright here, goes. Kool-Aid drinking aside, I don't like our odds in this one. I've been saying all week that it's going to take our best effort of the season, and the Pats to have an off day in order to win. Our offense has been struggling lately and if Rabach is out again I really don't like our chances to keep up with the Pats.

It pains me to say this, and I would love to be proven wrong, but the Pats win this one. I think our defense will keep it close, but if our offense can't sustain drives and keep the Patriots' 'O' off the field eventually our 'D' will break. If that's the case I see a close game until late when the Patriots pull away.

Patriots 30
Redskins 17

Re: Redskins v Patriots predictions

I'm leaving my 19-14 up as my title because I think it's a realistic possibility. I don't think we can win a shoot out.

I have faith that our defense can shut down a lot of what NE tries to do, but not all of it. Tom Brady is a great player having an insane year, and while I feel he will struggle at times this week, the Pats offense will move the ball and score on long drives.

The offense will score some points, and this will be competitive well into the 4th Quarter, but NE puts it away then.

28-20 Patriots.

The Skins have improved from last year but this game will show just how far they have to go to be an elite team. This defeat will be total.

Matty - I like your post.
Bellichicken and the Pats remember and respect Gregg Williams from his years with the Bills and having to play them twice a year. They know our scheme. Our defense will keep us in it for a while. I kind of see going the Pats-Dallas game. The Pats will pull away some point in the second or third quarter. 35-13

Re: Redskins v Patriots predictions

Well, I'll say this....I think this will be no walk in the park for New England. I really dont. This will be a nationally televised game on Sunday, we have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and I really think were going to have a pretty good offensive output this week, because quite frankly we dont have a choice but to really open things up and I really think that NFL or NOT, this team has the charachter where they will really bring an elevated game against the Patroits. I think the lack of respect the Redskins have been getting will have them come out swinging and really shock the Pats for a little bit, and be their toughest test to date.....

That being said....I really just don't see it. They really are that good, Bellicheck is really that good of a coach where these guys just dont have a letdown. Their ability to stay focused impresses me more than anything else about this team. I think we have the talent across the board to really match up with them, but being realistic...

I'll go New England 31 Washington 20....

EHH SCREW IT

REDSKINS 50 PATROITS 0!!!!

Re: Redskins v Patriots predictions

I guess I've stated my position in the other thread. In fact, I gave 5 reasons. But the last reason is the reason I feel most strongly about. The Skins just have a knack for turning conventionaal wisdom upside down.

I have a feeling Cambell will pass 5 or 6 times on the opening drive. And our defense will get a victory within the victory by keeping N.E. out of the end zone on their opening drive. This will set the tone.

I'm actually calling for a low scoring game. Skins 24 - Pats 17.

Take it to the bank.

If the Pats are an elite team, they are going to have to prove that they can win in multiple ways. If we don't score a lot, we still could win this one. We could still lose a close low scoring game also, but I would be shocked if NE put up of more than 30 on us.

Re: Redskins v Patriots predictions

I'm not dreading this game at all...basically we have nothing to lose and that kinda excites me. Nothing feels better than proving people wrong and if we lose while taking our best shot id be satisfied with that. Maybe i've been drinking a little too much of the kool-aid, but I'm geared up for an upset. Can't wait for Sunday.

I can see our defense limiting them, at least compared to how they've been playing against other teams. But I just can't see us winning. It's Tom Brady, people.

Re: Redskins v Patriots predictions

We've beaten Brady and Belichick before, and we'll do it again. New England is first in third down defense, we're second. Here's why we drafted LaRon Landry, the kid can hit.

Redskins 17
Patriots 10

Slowing down the Patriots is easier said than done

The one thing we've done this year is hit, well outside of Carlos Rogers tap of Donald Lee in the GB game. We muck up the game, keep Sean Taylor deep to keep Moss in check, and make the other guys pay for going over the middle. We've got nothing to lose, and I think this is the week that Santana Moss and Clinton Portis show why they make the big bucks. The run starts now fellas. Thanks for the Kool Aid Matty...

Re: Redskins v Patriots predictions

I do believe it's realistic to say that this will be a tough game. We have an advantage in that they play the colts next week, but they have the advantage of being at home.

ON second thought, home field advantage might add to their over confidence.

I like our chances. I think Saunders & Gibbs are ready to do whatever it takes to get the o rolling. I know the odds are against that given our shoddy line, but if we come out passing I think we can move it.

Campbell will have a nice day, make big plays when needed. The D will get a crucial pick in the end zone or red zone, and we'll give up some yards but not a lot of points.

Skins 24
Pats 21

Pats remain winless against us for 36 years!
