ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
Well, he's officially out of ESPN.
I'm one of the few Redskins fans that actually liked him as a broadcaster. Hopefully, NBC or CBS will pick him up. I guess ABC won't though since they're the parent company of ESPN. |

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
I liked Theismann as well. I would much rather listen to him than Brian Baldwinger.

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
There was a rumor several months back that he was heading to Redskins Radio. To do what exactly I don't know, and I actually haven't heard the rumor for a while now so it may be dead

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
I actually liked Joe better as a commentator than as a QB.... The autograph collector wonders if his price will be coming down soon. I know the people that have the autograph deal with him (Sports Card Heroes) raised his prices when he got on Monday Night.
Now that he is canned from the booth, I hope they do right by the fans and lower his price back to where it was. |

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
Theismann was interviewed a few weeks ago on the Riggins show on Redskins radio and when Riggins said he wanted Joe back on the show in the future, Theismann made a cryptic remark; something like "that'll be very easy to set up in a few weeks". It sounded funny at the time, but it could be a reference to him joining Redskins Radio.

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
Does anyone have any idea why?
I loved Joe as a QB and as a commentator. He had been with ESPN since 88...why let him go now with no comment as to why? What the hell happened?

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
He was on a local Espn affiliate in SWFL last Friday. He sounded good and did a thirty-ish minute int with the locals. All he said he was doing was some kind of national ad work with Kingsford......the charcoal people for some tailgating ad campaign/.
That's SICK! I hope something breaks for him............QUICK

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
I'm actually happy about this. Joe Theismann is one of my least favorite commentators of all time and just sounds ignorant most of the time. Unfortunately, that fits the mold for a lot of the other commentators out there and at least Joe brought some Redskins homerism to the table to counteract the Emmitts and Irvins. Unfortunately, of all of the former Redskins who have now turned to commentary, I cannot think of a single one that I enjoy listening to.

Re: ESPN Sacks Joe Theismann
Don’t freak out on me for saying this, but I think Aikman is one of the best commentators out there. I always thought Joey T was a pompous ass!
