What happened to the Saints?

A team that was suppose to contend for the NFC crown, is now facing a 0-3 start. I just saw Brees throw a terrible interception. I dont know what to think about their season last year.

Re: What happened to the Saints?

Same thing that happen to us last year. You have a good year, read all the articles, your head gets swollen and bam!! Reality hits, they should quit reading articles and play as a team. Hopefully the Skins learned that lesson.

Re: What happened to the Saints?

How about the 0-3 Rams who could be missing Jackson for a while? Or the 1-2Bears?

Yeah it sucks to be 2-1

4 ints from Brees!
I told everyone that the Saints were overrated, but even I didn't know they would be THIS bad. I expected around an 8-8 season...it appears they will be lucky to win 5 or 6. This team is just lost.

2 of them were forced by the situation. Brees definately was bound to look more human after last year. He's going to start playing better than he is though. They lack balance on offense. Defensively they are terrible.

When you lose the offensive ability to shorten the length of the game (via the run), a horrible defense will be exposed by every opponent. Look no further than the 2006 Redskins. The Saints offense can't score quickly, nor can it produce long methodical drives. It's very mediocre right now.

St. Louis over Dallas next week? I think Bulger will throw it all over the place with success, but they will need to find a replacement for Jackson to have any chance to pull the upset. Dallas' offense will continue their success against the Rams this week.

The Bears will be fine in the end, but they aren't a dominant team. Doesn't really matter if they replace Grossman. Unless Orton has improved dramatically in the last two years, they don't really have a better option. That running game will get on track though.

SportsCenter just reported that Deuce may be done for the season... torn ACL.

No link as of yet.

I'm quite sure that I say this every year and at the end of every season they put up some stats that show that it's statistically just another average year, but... sure does seem like a lot of guys are going down for the season already this year.

Deuce was the unsung hero who made that offense what it was last season. This is horrible for the Saints.

I believe they have 0 sacks and 1 turnover...that's not going to win you very many games.
Brees needs to be dead on because the defenses are stuffing their run and not respecting those WR's.

Re: What happened to the Saints?

You can't really take away from them what they did last year but you can certainly welcome them to the realities of the NFL. Last year is last year...a new year warrants new enemies with new game plan on how to beat you.

You don't need a good running game if you can throw the ball efficiently and play good defense.

The Saints are nowhere near playing good defense, and right now they can't even run throw ball efficently.

The passing game will come around for them once they figure out pass pro. The defense, in all likelyhood, will not. If they are going to be a playoff team this year in a weak division, Reggie Bush is going to have to average about 5 yards per carry and they are going to have to lean on him 25 times a game.

That's not what the Saints wanted to do coming into this season, that much is for sure. But at this point, its really all they have.
