Young guns looking AWFUL!
The future of NFL QB's are on the field right now in San Fran. Both are stinkin up the place.
Right now (about 13 minutes left in the 4th) Alex Smith is 8 of 18 for 62 yards, and Leinart is 12 of 25 for 85 yards and an int. Horrendous!

Like John Madden said after Santana Moss' 2nd TD vs. Dallas in week 2 of 2005, you can play lousy offense all day but if you do it on the last drive, you can win (a close) game. If you play great defense all day, but if you don't do it on the last drive in a close game, you lose.

Re: Young guns looking AWFUL!
I'm not too suprised over Leinart struggling a bit. He's only in year 2. Smith on the other hand shouldn't be struggling as much, and I wouldn't be surprised if he regresses a bit this year now that he's not working with Norv.

I think its great these future QB's are looking bad because they are not playing for the skins.

I think JC will be one of the best out of this new group of QBs. I could see Leinart over time being a baller. But I see the same for JC.

Re: Young guns looking AWFUL!
Agree about how the young guns looked--I was feeling very glad about JC as I watched that game--he just LOOKS better than those guys. But he's got a better OLine in front of him, which really helps any QB.
I think Grim will get the Cards going on offense--kinda hate seeing him over there and not with us somehow.

Most people just don't realize the amount of change a team has to go through with a new coach. We will see how Dallas does this year, but the Jets last year are a rare example of a new coach/system having immediate success in the NFL.

Let's not forget, Alex Smith is still only 23.
