That Guy picks through the trash (NFL cuts)

three categories here - possible upgrades (trash that might not be trash), old skins camp fodder being cut by other teams (trash that we thought was trash), and a note to a pitt homer (trash that a pitt fan couldn't believe could be trash)

possible upgrades:
qb: casey bramlet, Byron Leftwich, tim rattay
cb:Aaron Glenn
wr: Bethel Johnson, Keenan McCardell
lb: Nick Greisen
hb: Antonio Pittman, Verron Haynes
de: Kimo von Oelhoffen, renaldo wynn, simeon rice, Quentin Moses??
s : Donovin Darius, omar stoutmire

KvO is an eagle already, rice is a bronco, wynn was just cut (large contract), moses has some upside and is cheap.

aaron glenn as a 5th cb doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.

any of those 3 qbs easily beat out palmer and they're all younger than brunell... we'll probably stand pat at QB, but i rather have bramlet than palmer on my practice squad.

both of those wrs are good #5s... johnson does returns, mccardell is probably still a lot better than james trash (except on teams).

griesen has injury issues that have got him cut a second time, same with darius... darius would be a lot better than doughty or fox, but he's pretty old... for depth they probably keep what we've got, since they're just teamers and won't be playing much defense.

ex-skins re-cut again:
de Nic Clemons (couldn't stay with his assignment there either i guess)
og Ikechuku Ndukwe
lb Philippe Gardent (that french roster trash from nfle last year)
cb Christian Morton (he had an int for us and played well for a 5th cb here)
lb Clifton Smith (he had 1 tackle for us in 2003)
dt Cedric Killings
wr John Standeford (last year camp fodder, spent the year on colts roster)
qb Gibran Hamdan (seattle - no, san francisco -no)
lb Robert McCune (miami didn't figure out how to turn a body builder into a lb either)
db Curry Burns
qb Tim Hasselbeck (hey, who else posted a perfect 0.0 vs dallas?)
ol Mark Wilson
k Nick Novak

(ps, cinncy grabbed kenny watson, rashad bauman, and lemar marshall, and they've been very productive depth for them ever since. I'd like them all back. watson and rock are the same production, bauman was better than jimoh)

that third thing:
and whoever the pitt homer was that thought Anwar Phillips and Tyler Palko were nfl ready and gave me crap about it (over a year ago), they have done nothing and a cb that runs 4.6 (surprise) isn't that useful in the NFL. meanwhile i called jones-drew and bush as the best WR and not the best RB, mario williams as a huge project, and demeco ryans as the lb you wanted to get. better luck next time.

thoughts?

I would like to see us get Quieten Mosses even if its just for the practice squad. I'm surprised he was given up upon so easily.

I believe your mistaking him for Dimitri Patterson.

All good. I had not looked in those threads so I didnt know. Had you previously said it in this thread, that would have been on me. No worries though.

Re: That Guy picks through the trash (NFL cuts)

From JLC

Roster Now At 53

The Redskins claimed two players off waivers that I am going to be the first to admit I know absolutely nothing about - WR Shaun Bodiford and TE Cody Boyd. Never heard of them.

They cut TE Eric Edwards so the roster is at the max, but I still think there will be more tweaks over the next few weeks.

They also reached injury settlements with Derrick Blaylock and Pete Schmitt, so there's a chance Blaylock coems back in the second half of the season with the Skins if they so desire his services.

Can anyone tell me if I am correct? Would the Redskins been next in line for Moses had Arizona not taken him.

Your right, but I think waivers goes in the same order as the draft, but I may be wrong. That guy would know.

yeah, same as the draft. so, with the pick we had, we would've been next.
