Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/...88/1005/SPORTS

Talks about injury bug and how if he doesn't stay healthy this year he could be moved... Not the biggest of news but I thought it was a little strange to come out and say that. Maybe he's just trying to motivate himself?

I thought this whole tendinitis thing was just b.s. to keep him out of the preseason a la Ladanian Tomlinson?

Yeah, sometimes I hate how loose at the mouth Portis is. People always worry about his comments.

I'm glad you said it, TMC. I don't take this as him not wanting to be a Skin or really concerned about him losing his job.

I wish we had Champ and a draft pick back.

I don't. What has Champ won with Denver? Don't get me wrong, Champ is arguably the best CB in the game, but I like the way our secondary looks this year. I doubt we could afford Taylor, Landry and Champ back there.

Yea I agree TMC, I wish he would just shutup and let his actions speak for themselves!

With that said, I would agree IF he doesn't have a come back year, that I hope he does. I would think he's outta DC!

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.

CP is correct in stating that this could be his last season as a Redskin if he can't remain healthy. It just sucks if this becomes reality because we gave up a probable Hall of Fame corner for him (Champ Bailey). While I agree that he has been granted a pass this pre-season in fear of another injury, I'll never forget his efforts in 2005 and I truly believe when the whistle blows in regular season, he will bring it. He was rock solid year before last and he appeared to be well on his way to being something very special. On game day, he gave a 100%. Hell, even the pre-season game last year when he got hurt he was not going to back down from tackling the defender that was making his way down the field after our turnover. Even then he was motivated...in a freakin' pre-season game. Let's all hope CP makes a successful recovery this year and if for nothing else, we can have a few laughs if he returns to his "costume" laden press conferences.

I just think that a week or two before the season, if you're saying "this might be my last year" it kind of leaves it open to debate as far as where your head is at. Especially when no one else has suggested anything of this nature. I like the personality he brings to the team but sometimes you have to think before you speak.

This is eerily similar to when Gibbs says "If I don't start winning, they might send me back to NASCAR <<high pitched nervous laugh>>"

All CP has to do is play like he's shown he can and all will be fine

Yeah, I agree. I just hate that he always says something to worry everyone.

CP tends to think out loud, yet it seems everyone hangs on his words and takes them way too seriously.

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.

His comments are motivation for him to have a good year. He knows how injuries can affect how people look at you(aka David Patten), but he is secure with the org. because he proved his toughness last year. This is just his way to put pressure on himself to perform.
Portis over fumbling Betts anyday!!!

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.

I think this comment is closer to what he actually feels than most of the things he says, and I'd have to say that I agree. That's the way the front office does business in Washington. As soon as a player shows the slightest hint of having lost a step, he's expendable. Face of the team or not.
