CrazyCanuck: Capologist by Day; Poet by Night

This is an oldie, but goodie that I felt like re-posting.

And Gibbs Kicked Their Fckn Ass
by CrazyCanuck

My second year as a Skins fan, and Gibbs' second year too.
Our story begins in 1982.
NFC Championship game at RFK, the fans would make noise.
But beating the hated Cowboys would also take experience and poise.
"Gibbs seems like a decent coach..." the experts would say,
"...but he's not beating Tom Landry, not on this day."
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

Winning SB XVII was now every Skins fan's wish.
But first we'd have to upset the favored Fish.
After the Dallas game, the Skins would surely let down.
And this time they wouldn't be playing in their hometown.
Facing Don Shula and a defense called the Killer B's,
Skins fans would have to wait, Miami would win with ease.
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

Fast forward to the playoffs - 1986.
Everyone thought the 14-2 Bears were the sht.
Their D was too strong, the Skins wouldn't score.
Plus they'd rolled to the title just one year before.
The Bears were going back to the Bowl, no way they'd yield.
Not with the great Mike Ditka, not at Soldier Field.
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

87 playoffs, Soldier Field, deja vu.
These Bears were angry, they'd had a whole year to stew.
So long Skins, see ya later.
You won't win this time, not without Schroeder.
Last year was a fluke, the Bears would atone.
Now way they lose 2 years in a row at home
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

Now the Skins are playing in SuperBowl XXII.
It won't be easy, their opponents are due.
Playing against Elway the year after The Drive,
There's no way the Skins could possibly survive.
Add in Dan Reeves and that's all Denver should need,
Broncos would win easy, especially if they could get an early lead.
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

All playoff wins are great, but some are more fun.
Which brings us to our next game - January 1991.
With a superstar named Randall and playing at the Vet,
Wise bettors knew the Eagles were the bet.
It would be just like the Body Bag Game, the Skins would be crying.
The Hogs were no match for the defensive genius Buddy Ryan.
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

91 playoffs and the Skins are at home.
And still getting no love for reasons unknown.
The Falcons had never made anyone faint,
but this team had Prime Time and they'd already upset the mighty Saints.
Their team would be looser thanks to Hammer,
Jerry Glanville and crew would steal the banner.
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

Now the Skins were back in the Bowl.
Playing the Bills who were definitely on a roll.
This Buffalo team was different. They'd fulfill their promise.
The Skins D wouldn't keep up with Kelly, Reed, and Thomas.
Marv Levy's time had come - that was the sell.
Not to mention he'd had great success in the CFL.
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

Gibbs final season, what else could he do?
We'd all get to see in the playoffs - 1992.
Underdogs in Minny, there would be no upset.
Gibbs would lose with class, then ride off into the sunset.
This Vikes team was simply too mean,
And they had an up-and-coming coach named Dennis Green.
And Gibbs kicked their fckn ass.

I'd love to take credit for that. But that's a Canuck Classic all the way

Nothing like reliving the glory days.
I don't want to hear what his new poem would sound like.

Re: CrazyCanuck: Capologist by Day; Poet by Night

Hey all,

Sorry I haven't been around much. Between golf, 2 jobs, and a new girlfriend just haven't had a minute. But with winter approaching it means I'll have 9 months to refresh the site every 5 minutes.

Thanks SS for pulling this off the shelf. To be honest I barely even remember when I wrote it or why I had to throw the profanities in there. I think it was when one of my fellow Warpathers suggested that we'd be better off with Dennis Green as our head coach.
