Sean Taylor dropped 16 lbs.

John Clayton just did a segment on ESPN News, where he reported that Sean Taylor went from 228lbs to 212lbs. Clayton said that he did this in hope to improve his speed to become more of a "centerfielder" type of safety, and team officials say that Sean is now running a 4.5 forty due to the drop in weight. Now the question is will this hurt his hitting abilty? I doubt it.

He will still pack a load, but will he be able to hold up for 16 games? He's about due to knock himself out anyway.

Re: Sean Taylor dropped 16 lbs.

This concerns me because now he's the weight of a CB, and if he hits like he normally does, he won't make it 16 games...injuries will occur, and frequently. I hope I'm wrong. we need him for 16 games + the playoffs + the super bowl!

Looks like he gave that weight to Brandon Lloyd. I think Sean Taylor is awesome and I love watching him knock the snot out of other receivers. However, it seemed like there have been a few times where, had he been just a split second faster, he could have actually made a play on the ball (interception) as opposed to a hard hit on what was a first down catch anyway.

I am hoping that is he is trying to "evolve" into the ronnie lott type player where he wasn't always looking for the big hit, but would take it if it presented itself. Lott went after the ball, plain and simple...Taylor can be a Lott type player if he wants to.

Re: Sean Taylor dropped 16 lbs.

This is a great sign. It shows that Sean is ready to assume the role that G-dub has laid out for him. Why would this make him injury prone? If anything he is probably in better shape than ever.

It sounds like he will be thinking ball first end career second. He is going to have a break out year!

Re: Sean Taylor dropped 16 lbs.

It won't hurt his hitting ability. Hitting is all about attitude, and I don't see Taylor ever not playing the game at 110mph.

Sean Taylor will be a beast either way. His speed will be just like in college when he was 220lbs.

4.5 that's not that fast. I'm pretty sure he can run a sub 4.4

He has run a sub 4.4. He ran a 4.37 his senoir year at Miami. He just got bigger and lost some of it. I hope he has gotten it back.

God I hope you are right. That would do more for our defense than a new LB ever could.

It is faster than 90% of the WRs in the league. Most of the CBs too.
