Carriker very good fit
Greg Williams loves versitle players, he loves d linemen who can play dt and de, and this is exactly what Carriker does. He is 6-6 295lb de, with those numbers he can definately play dt. He has had 16.5 sacks over the past 2 seasons, and is great against the run. With Carter as our straight pass rusher, i think carriker would be a great pick for us. If we are somehow able to trade for Jenkins, and draft Carriker (which i think is unlikely), then I think that we would have one of the better d-lines in the nfl. We'd have a good pass rushing de in Carter, a good pass rushing dt in griffin, a good run stuffer dt in jenkins, and a good run stuffer de in Carriker. It is the perfect balance. We would also have very good dt depth with Golston as 3rd and Salevea as 4th, and wed have good de depth in daniels at 3rd (and really no one else can be considered quality depth at de, but maybe we can draft someone good in the later rounds)
Edit: I dont know if Carriker is worthy of the 6th pick; I do not think that he will be a superstar, but i do think he would be a very productive asset to our team, and he is someone that I would love to have. |

Re: Carriker very good fit
I do agree he's versatile but I don't think he's worthy of being picked that high. I've read that in a 4-3 D he would probably be better suited for DT.

Re: Carriker very good fit
I don't understand why we'd take Carriker when Okoye will be there (if we want to go DT) and when Jamaal Anderson would be there (if we want to go DE).

Re: Carriker very good fit
I like Carriker more than Anderson. Anderson had one good year, and there are questions to whether he or the system made him stand out. If the skins can trade down to get Carriker, I agree he's a terrific fit. He is raw, but very agressive, and still produced sacks. You can't coach size. Beyond, the pure quickness of Adams, I think he is by far the best DE on the board. And, if you run a 3-4, he is the best DE on the board.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought trading down for this guy would be a great move. Takin him at 6 would be a reach. I see us picking him at 10 or up. If we stay at 6, we pick Okoye, Adams, or that Safety.

Re: Carriker very good fit
I hope. I'd really love to drop down and be able to pick him up. I am not sure why he is dropping but any DE with the size he has and the year he had in the SEC has to have a lot of upside. DEs just don't go out and get 13.5 sacks in the SEC on a fluke. The guy can play.
I am loving that we have some good options for the DLine. Okoye, Anderson, Adams and Branch. I feel like they are all going to be good players even though history says at least one will be a bust. |

Re: Carriker very good fit
Carriker, and I want to be careful about saying better fit for our system, would be exactly what we are looking for on the DL.
We don't really know what Andre Carter's value is just yet. Consider him an X factor if you will. So we don't want to draft his replacement just yet. It's too early to do so. So stay away from the smaller prospect who are only good at rushing the passer. What we do know with absolute certainty is that we need youth at the LE position, currently being played by Daniels and Wynn, and the DT position, where Saleve'a's contract runs out and Griffin may become an again cap casulty in the near future. So we want either Okoye or Carriker because we KNOW that we will have an opening for them in the near future. Two years from now, the best course of action may very well be to draft the best pass rushing DE as early as possible to replace good-for-nothing Carter. It's just too early to pick for a need that we don't know we have yet.

Re: Carriker very good fit
if the draft plays out like the mock draft posted above. we might be able to trade down to a team wanting peterson. maybe the Bills or Packers they need an upgrade at RB

Re: Carriker very good fit
Carriker has a lot of potential, but is he really worth n.6 overall? We should trade down a bit.

Re: Carriker very good fit
Carriker is not worth a # 6, in the first round.
