Re: Patten released
I liked David P. but we're awfully thick at that position to keep a guy who can't contribute on spec. teams. Maybe Espy can earn a spot.
I'll await all our cap experts to break down the significance on that end. I recall several saying that it would count 1-2 mil against the cap this year to release him. |

Re: Patten released
So we've saved 7 million on the cap for 2008 already with the releases of him and Archuleta.
We just may have the cap room to make a free agent signing next year after all!

Re: Patten released
I don't like it, he wasn't a bad 4th option. I think they have could have had someone else play special teams. I don't know, I always liked him. Whatever...it was bound to happen and I was planning on it happening, I just wished it had worked out. Not necessarily a bad move, but he was a good insurance policy if guys started going down.

Re: Patten released
Outside of Brunell, Springs, Daniels, and Wynn, anybody could be back next year (2008). These moves mean that Griffin and Washington are no longer possible cap casulties. However, if their level of play continues to fall, we should cut bait to open up our 2009 cap some.

Re: Patten released
It's about time. He never really got anything going in D.C. Yet another wasted signing.

Re: Patten released
I liked the signing when he first arived but Patten was never acountable. If a guy can't be counted on to be on the field, he's of limited value. I thought we should have cut him last year because he wasn't going to do anything for his roster spot. He does not play ST's, and he caught a grand total of one pass last season, no way such limited production warrant's a roster spot. This opens an opportunity for the development of a younger player.

Re: Patten released
Ever since he got hurt his first year here, things went downhill for him. Good move by the FO.
