Thank God!! I think he failed a drug test.

Or he quit so he could start partying again, now that he has gotten himself into the HOF. A$$HOLE!!

If Michael Irvin or Troy Aikman (especially) weren't Cowboys at one point, most of us would enjoy them as commentators. As Gman and I were talking about, he said that Irvin said too many dumb things, which is true. But for the most part, he wasn't the worst announcer.

On the other hand, I think Aikman is pretty damn good.

I think Aikman is the next best (after Madden who is an NFL Icon) and Moose is decent. That doesn't mean I won't always dislike them on some level.

As far as Irvin, I consider him a less knowledgable Sean Salisbury. Irvin was great at discussing the game from the player's perspective (especially big games) but I always think that his off the field troubles hung over him. The Romo comment probably sealed the deal on this because him getting into the Hall of Fame would be a huge boost to his credentials.

Irvin will find a job somewhere. I wouldn't say he was bad, he was just a little over the top for me.

Re: Irvin no longer with ESPN

I must say one of the reasons I liked watching all the ESPN pre game shows was becasue of Irvin. I think he's funny as hell and real good on TV. He was the type of player that if he was not on your team you could not stand him. Kind of like B. Mitch. He says some dumb shit but that makes it interesting. He's was a nice change up from Jaws and Jackson. So what if he likes to party. I think it's funny as hell that he goes in hotel rooms and does coke and ecsatsy w/ strippers. It makes good headlines. He's not a role model but not everyone's perfect. Did anyone believe him last year when he got caught with a pipe in his car? Said he was hiding it from a friend? C'mon!

I pretty much agree 100% on this perspective.

As far as Aikman, I love the guy. I think he is easily the best color guy in the booth right now.

Much as I hate to admit it, I'm going to miss the "Playmaker". Hated him when he played cause D. Green could not cover him! He got my respect when he picked up the mic. He was the main reason I watched NFL Primetime! With that said, I hope he continues to fight the demons that plagued him for so long.

Re: Irvin no longer with ESPN

Irvin was terrible!!!! He reminded me of this guy D-Bomb I used to see at the bar who was a cowboys fan and would always argue with me.

Aikman on the other hand is the best booth announcer in years. Seriously, who can come close to him right now?

Aikman does a good job. Irvin is a total hack and I don't think there are many people who would disagree. He is completely biased often and rarely shows a good grasp of the intricacies of the game. All he knows is how to make stupid comments and talk to TO. There's a reason no one argues with him on ESPN. Because you can't win an argument with a moron. Good riddance.

The only thing Aikman and Irvin have in common was the cowboys. Aikman works hard and is a pretty good announcer. Irvin just spouts...he lacks the inteligence for a serious debate or discussion on the air so he just screams over top of everyone he's working with. He's awful...

I guess he got what he wanted, HOF, and is ready to move on. Good riddance.

I have to agree with you about Aikman. I think he has made a very good analyst for Fox. Out of all the analysts that have came to fox in the last few years, I think Aikman is one of the best. Of course I still dislike him because he was a Cowboy, but I'd rather have him calling games than Maas or Baldwinger.
