At the advice of my friends and fellow Skins fans, I was told to keep this to myself, but I can't. I even had to post 10 times b4 I could tell you all this...
A few weeks ago, I was arguing with a few of my fellow fans about what the skins need to do for the draft considering that we only have 1 pick in the first day! I said that we absolutely need to begin to build thru the draft. We have been trading draft picks for washed up players(Duckett & Lloyd), and we need to start trading players for draft picks. So I suggested that we trade Ladell Betts for a draft pick(s). I almost got cussed out! "Ladell is good blah blah blah." That is exactly why we should trade him NOW! He has a very "trade friendly" contract, he fumbles the ball in a run oriented system(which cost us the Rams and Bucs game), and his value is as high as ever considering he just went over 1,000 yards in CP's abscence. Once again, laughed at. Whatever, I know it makes sense. So a few weeks ago, I was at work for the Washington Wizards(I am in the fan patrol. We pass out burritos and tshirts) arguing the same point with my buddies and skins fans who also work with me. So, guess who walks by me at the verizon center b4 the game - Mr. Sports Machine himself, George Michael. So out of jest, I said that I should ask him the same question about trading Betts for draft picks. To my surprise they told me to do it, so I did. "Mr. Michael, hello my name is "SKinsFanSince91", and I wanna ask u a question about the Redskins." GM said, jokingly, "OKay buddy. The Redskins were 5-11. What do you wanna know about them?" I said, "What do u think about the Redskins trading Ledell Betts for a draft pick(s), seeing as how we only have one, pittiful pick, in the first day?" Immediately, he facial expressions showed me that this wasnt the first time he had heard this scenario. His exact words were, GM - "Well, we cant trade CP, cuz we are married to his contract. You never pay that to a RB, because you can find them anywhere in the draft. That $ goes to a QB, cuz they are few and far between. His contract isnt trade friendly." Interjecting, SkinsFanSince91 - "But, Betts' contract is. Houston, Green Bay, and New Yo.." Before I could finish saying New York, he said, "I shouldn't even be telling you this (side note: this is why it took me so long to tell you guys, cuz I dont wanna be the one to beat the potentiality of the deal), but among other teams, the JETS have been doing everything they can since the end of the regular season to get the Ladell Betts. So far, they have offered a swap of first round picks(our 6th for their 25th pick) AND Ladell Betts for the "disgruntled" Johnathan Vilma." He saw our faces and said, "I know it sounds to good to be true, but the JETS wanna move VILMA because the MLB is unhappy in the new Eric Mangini 3-4 scheme. Same thng happened to Ray Lewis. The 3-4 doesn't protect the MLB like the 4-3, which allows the DT's to take up blocks and let the MLB run free and makes tackles. So he wants out. There are other teams interested, but I gotta run the game is about start..." SkinsFanSince91, "Thanks George. Thanks alot." With smiles and all types of impatience towards the start of the draft, I felt compelled to call him by his first name. After all, he did give me a little hope until the draft, and even until next season. Now this is a primary source report(eye witness account), as I was there along with 2 witnesses. I need not remind you that one can be convicted of a crime with two witnesses. So God, please let the SKins be convicted of doing the smart/practical thing by gaining more draft picks at the expense of Ladell Betts and maybe even Adam Archuleta. Amen...lol. Thoughts anyone? I am really interested to get some dialouge going, just don't be the one to talk TOO much, so that it gets to ESPN and then the deal gets trashed. Holla PS If anyone can get me a Skins GM job, I am now starting my campaign!

We swap picks (our 6th for their 25th) and give up Ladell Betts to get Jonathan Vilma?
Why don't we ask them to kick us in the balls too? No thanks. |

I'll take another Miami guy. They seem to shine in the burgundy and gold. I'm not surprised about this move and I certainly welcome it.

Don't believe it for a minute! Yea Ladell dropped a few, but that is fixable "AKA" TIKI, and his PLUS far outweights his FAULTS! Not to mention he hits the hole HARD and FAST, he's not leavin.
Futhermore, you have no clue how CP will hold up, if he holds up at all? Haven't heard anything on his progress. LB is GREAT insurance! LB is a CLASS ACT that can get it done, I certainly hope this is non sense.

I don't like the move. I would make the move straight up but I WOULD NOT swap number one picks. Plus I'm not sure Vilma at 230lb is big enough to play MLB in a 4-3. We already tried a small MLB. I would pass on this.

Vilma is already a MLB, so I guess he's big enough.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)
While it is well noted we need draft picks in the worst way, we're not going to trade Betts, so to me it's useless even discussing that senerio. Think about it, why would we even consider trading him after just signing him to a new five year deal, and our running back situation being as precarious as it is with Portis coming back off injury, and Duckett leaving via FA? I think we need to consider other options to acquire DP's.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)
I like the trade of Ladell for Vilma, but not switching the picks without an additional pick. #6 for #25 doesn't match up. its not like we are getting Urlacher for Betts. It would be a pretty decent deal if we get a 2nd or 3rd with the trade.
